Bambu Lab has teased a new 3D printer called the A2L, and the company appears to be preparing a June 1 launch for what could be a larger and more affordable machine in its lineup. The teaser does not show the printer itself, but it has already started heavy speculation among 3D printing fans.
The announcement is unusually light on details. Instead of showing hardware, Bambu Lab used a colorful 3D printed baby announcement style image, which led many people to treat the teaser as a hint that a new model is joining the family. Since the company has already refreshed parts of its lineup with newer machines such as the P2S and X2D, many expect the A series to be next.
The name A2L is the biggest clue. The current A1 is one of Bambu Lab’s most affordable entry points for people who want a fast and easy color 3D printer. The “L” in A2L has led some fans to believe the new model could be a large format version of the A series. One theory suggests a build plate around 330 x 320 mm, similar to the size used in Bambu Lab’s larger H2 line.
That would make sense for the market. Many 3D printing hobbyists have wanted a larger Bambu Lab printer, but the company’s bigger machines are much more expensive. The H2S Combo is priced far above the A1 Combo, so a larger A series printer could give buyers more build volume without moving into a premium price tier.
| Expected detail | Why people think it may happen |
|---|---|
| Larger build volume | The “L” in A2L may stand for large |
| A1 successor | Bambu Lab has been refreshing older product lines |
| Budget friendly design | The A series is known for lower pricing |
| Bigger bed slinger | Competing brands already sell large bed slinger printers |
| Multi color support | The teaser uses six printed colors |
| Possible cutting tool | The teaser’s craft theme led to speculation about Cricut style features |
Some fans also noticed the “creative playground” style of the teaser and wondered whether the A2L might include a cutter or plotter feature. A laser seems unlikely for an open frame bed slinger because that would create safety problems, but a cutting blade or pen tool is more realistic. Bambu Lab already has software and toolhead experience from its higher end machines, so a craft focused feature is possible.

The six color teaser has also led to speculation about expanded color printing. Some people wondered whether the A2L could use a nozzle swapping system like Bambu Lab’s Vortek system, but that seems less likely if the printer is based on a bed slinger design. A more realistic option is support for multiple AMS systems, which could allow printing in more colors.
There are still many unknowns. Bambu Lab has not confirmed the build volume, price, motion system, toolhead design, or whether the A2L will keep the same basic structure as the A1. It is also not clear whether the company is planning a simple larger A1 style printer or something more ambitious with extra creative tools.
The timing is interesting because large format consumer 3D printers have become more common. Anycubic, Elegoo, and Creality already sell bigger bed slingers, and those machines appeal to people making cosplay parts, household items, prototypes, and larger functional prints. Bambu Lab entering that space with a more polished and beginner friendly machine could put pressure on those rivals.
The A2L could also help address concerns around the A1 line. The A1 has been popular because it is affordable and easy to use, but a refreshed version may give Bambu Lab a chance to improve design, reliability, and long term support.
For now, the A2L is still mostly a mystery. The June 1 launch should reveal whether it is simply a larger A series printer or a more flexible crafting machine with new tools. Either way, the teaser has already done its job. Bambu Lab has turned a short announcement into one of the most watched 3D printer launches of the week.
