AMD has released a new Adrenalin hotfix driver to address a Windows 10 installation problem affecting some Radeon graphics card owners. The Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview Driver is intended to fix the Device Manager warning that appeared after the previous 26.6.2 release, which added FSR 4.1 support for Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards.
The issue mainly affected Windows 10 systems using RX 7000 GPUs, though some reports also involved Radeon RX 9000 series cards. Affected PCs could show a yellow warning symbol beside the graphics card in Device Manager after the driver installation.
AMD acknowledged the problem shortly after reports began appearing and initially advised people to return to the older Adrenalin 26.6.1 driver. The new hotfix should remove the need for that workaround on supported Windows 10 installations.
The Hotfix Targets a Windows 10 Driver Installation Issue
The problem was connected to Adrenalin 26.6.2, which introduced wider FSR 4.1 support for RDNA 3 based Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards. While the update gave owners access to AMD’s newer upscaling technology, some Windows 10 systems encountered a compatibility issue during or after installation.
The error appeared as a yellow warning icon, often called a yellow bang, in Device Manager. This typically indicates that Windows has detected a problem with the installed device or driver.
AMD has now issued the 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview Driver specifically to correct that issue.
| Driver Version | Main Purpose |
|---|---|
| Adrenalin 26.6.1 | Previous stable fallback for affected PCs |
| Adrenalin 26.6.2 | Added FSR 4.1 support but caused issues on some Windows 10 systems |
| Adrenalin 26.6.3 Hotfix | Fixes the Windows 10 installation problem |
The update is available for 64 bit versions of Windows 10 version 21H2 and later. It is mainly relevant to Radeon RX 7000 owners who installed version 26.6.2 and began seeing a warning in Device Manager.
Radeon RX 7000 Owners Can Update to Restore FSR 4.1 Support
For affected systems, the hotfix allows owners to keep the newer driver features without remaining on the problematic 26.6.2 release. That includes access to FSR 4.1 support on compatible Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards.

FSR is AMD’s upscaling technology, which can improve frame rates by rendering games at a lower resolution before upscaling the image. Support for newer versions is important for people using recent Radeon hardware, particularly in demanding games.
Anyone who had already rolled back to Adrenalin 26.6.1 can now consider installing the hotfix instead. People still using the problematic 26.6.2 version should update to 26.6.3 rather than waiting for a later general driver release.
How to Install the AMD Hotfix Safely
Before installing a replacement driver, it is a good idea to close games and save any work. If the earlier driver caused persistent problems, removing it first can help avoid conflicts.
AMD previously recommended using its Cleanup Utility for people who needed to roll back from 26.6.2. That may still be useful if a standard driver update does not complete correctly or the Device Manager warning remains after installing the hotfix.
After installation, restart the PC and open Device Manager to confirm that the Radeon graphics card no longer shows a warning symbol.
The quick release of a hotfix is useful for affected Windows 10 owners, especially because the problem arrived alongside a feature update many RX 7000 users wanted. Anyone who had no issues with the earlier driver may not need to rush, but those seeing the yellow warning should install the new version.
