AMD has officially confirmed several upcoming Ryzen processor families based on its Zen 6 architecture, including Olympic Ridge and Medusa1 for desktops as well as Medusa1 and Medusa2 for mobile systems.
The names appeared in AMD's Technical Information Portal, giving official confirmation to product families that had previously been discussed mainly through leaks and reports.
For desktop PCs, AMD is preparing Olympic Ridge as its next major high performance Ryzen family on the AM5 platform. Medusa1 will also come to AM5 as an APU family with integrated graphics.
On laptops, Medusa1 and Medusa2 are listed for the FP10 platform, with the two families targeting different performance and efficiency segments.

Olympic Ridge will keep AM5 alive for Zen 6
Olympic Ridge is expected to replace the current Ryzen 9000 Granite Ridge family as AMD's standard desktop Zen 6 lineup.
Reports indicate that the family could scale to as many as 24 cores, with individual CCDs containing up to 12 Zen 6 cores. Models with 3D V Cache are also expected, although AMD has not officially detailed individual products yet.
The processors are expected to remain compatible with AM5, continuing AMD's long term support strategy for the socket.
Reported TDP values range from roughly 65W to 170W, similar to the current Ryzen 9000 family, but these figures have not been officially confirmed.
The first Olympic Ridge processors are widely expected in 2027.
Medusa brings Zen 6 APUs to desktops and laptops
AMD is also preparing Medusa1 for AM5.
Unlike Olympic Ridge, Medusa1 is expected to be an APU family combining Zen 6 CPU cores with upgraded integrated graphics. The desktop versions would effectively succeed the Ryzen 8000G series.
Mobile Medusa1 processors are expected to scale up to 22 CPU cores and offer stronger capabilities than current Strix and Gorgon families.

Medusa2 will also use the FP10 platform but is expected to focus more heavily on lower power and entry level systems.
A separate Medusa Halo family is also reportedly planned for higher performance notebooks. Reports suggest it will combine Zen 6 with newer RDNA graphics architecture, but AMD has not officially confirmed all of those architectural details.
CES 2027 could be the main launch window
AMD is expected to formally introduce its Zen 6 client processors around CES 2027, with desktop and mobile launches following during the first half of the year.
Some roadmap details suggest Olympic Ridge could arrive in the first half of 2027, while Medusa based desktop APUs may follow later.
These launch windows remain expectations rather than confirmed release dates.
Intel is also preparing its Nova Lake processors for the same general period, which could make early 2027 an important competitive window for desktop and laptop CPUs.
The most important confirmation for current AMD owners is that Zen 6 remains tied to AM5. That means the platform introduced with Ryzen 7000 is set to continue supporting another major CPU architecture generation, extending its useful life further into 2027 and beyond.
