Acer will launch the Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld in October 2026, giving players another premium Windows device built around Intel’s latest Arc graphics technology.
The handheld was introduced at Computex 2026 and will be available in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. Acer has not confirmed a specific release day, but October is now the official launch window.
Four configurations have been listed in the United Kingdom, with prices starting at £999.99. The most powerful version costs £1,499.99 and includes an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, 32GB of memory, and 1TB of storage.
The Predator Atlas 8 enters a growing handheld market that already includes the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, ROG Xbox Ally, and MSI Claw. Acer is targeting the premium end of this category with a large 120Hz screen, an 80Wh battery, extensive controls, and two cooling fans.
Intel Arc G3 hardware powers the Predator Atlas 8
Buyers will be able to choose between standard Intel Arc G3 and faster Arc G3 Extreme processors. Graphics options include Intel Arc B370 and Arc B390 integrated graphics.
The Extreme configuration is expected to provide the strongest gaming performance, particularly when Intel XeSS upscaling and frame generation technologies are supported. Early demonstrations reportedly showed the Arc G3 Extreme model running demanding games at more than 60 frames per second with ray tracing and XeSS enabled.
Final performance will depend on power limits, cooling, game support, and graphics settings. Independent testing will also be needed to determine how the Atlas 8 compares with AMD powered handhelds.

The 8 inch screen supports VRR and touch controls
The Predator Atlas 8 has an 8 inch IPS level touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its refresh rate reaches 120Hz, while Variable Refresh Rate support can reduce visible tearing when game performance changes.
The display reaches up to 500 nits of brightness and covers the full sRGB colour space. Acer has also added an anti glare coating and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The 1920 × 1200 resolution should provide a useful balance between image clarity and performance. It is less demanding than higher resolution handheld screens, which may help the Intel graphics hardware maintain smoother frame rates.
The device supports ten point touch input, allowing you to navigate Windows and compatible games without relying entirely on the physical controls.
Full size controls and Hall effect triggers target serious players
Acer has equipped the Atlas 8 with full size analogue sticks, Hall effect triggers, adjustable trigger switches, rear macro buttons, a directional pad, and standard ABXY buttons.
Hall effect technology uses magnetic sensors and can reduce the mechanical wear associated with conventional controls. This may also lower the risk of trigger or stick drift over time.
A dedicated PredatorSense button provides quick access to performance profiles and system controls. The power button includes a fingerprint reader, offering a faster way to sign into Windows.
The handheld also includes an Xbox Game Bar button, volume controls, View and Menu buttons, two microphones, and two 2 watt speakers. DTS:X Ultra and high resolution audio support are included.
Dual fan cooling is designed for longer gaming sessions
Cooling is handled by two fans, including a metal Predator AeroBlade fan and a second plastic fan. Acer’s Vortex Flow design is intended to move heat away from the processor while maintaining stable performance during demanding games.

The handheld measures 299mm wide and weighs under 810 grams when equipped with the larger 80Wh battery. A lighter version with a 60Wh battery weighs under 770 grams.
The 80Wh capacity is large for a handheld gaming PC, but actual battery life remains unknown. Processor power settings, screen brightness, refresh rate, wireless use, and game requirements will all affect how long the device runs between charges.
Charging is handled through a 65W USB C power adapter. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports provide support for charging, external displays, storage devices, and compatible docks. Other connections include a UHS II microSD card reader and a 3.5mm combination audio jack.
Predator Atlas 8 prices start at £999.99
The entry model includes an Intel Arc G3 processor, 16GB of memory, and 512GB of storage for £999.99. Increasing the memory to 24GB raises the price to £1,099.99.
The Predator Atlas 8 Extreme starts at £1,299.99 with 24GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. The top model includes 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage for £1,499.99.
United States pricing has not been confirmed. Acer is expected to provide regional prices closer to the October launch.
The Atlas 8 offers strong specifications, but its pricing places it firmly above mainstream handhelds. Its success will depend on whether Intel’s Arc G3 processors can deliver competitive performance, acceptable battery life, and reliable game compatibility in a portable device.
