Acer Aspire Go 15 Opens Preorders at £499 With Snapdragon C and 8 GB RAM

Acer has opened preorders for the Aspire Go 15, a lower cost Windows 11 laptop powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon C processor.

The laptop is priced at £499 in the UK, putting it well below Apple's £699 MacBook Neo while matching its 8 GB memory configuration. Acer has kept the price lower by making several compromises, including a smaller 128 GB storage capacity and a more modest processor.

The Aspire Go 15 is aimed at everyday computing rather than demanding creative or professional workloads. Its Snapdragon C chip should be suitable for web browsing, office applications, video playback and general daily use, but buyers looking for much higher performance will likely need to consider a faster system.

Acer Aspire Go 15 specifications

Storage is one of the main areas where Acer has reduced costs. The Aspire Go 15 includes 128 GB compared with the MacBook Neo's 256 GB base configuration.

It is currently unclear whether Acer is using soldered eMMC storage or an NVMe SSD. That distinction will matter for long term ownership because an NVMe drive could potentially be replaced or upgraded, while fixed storage would leave buyers with fewer options.

Snapdragon C keeps the focus on basic computing

Qualcomm's Snapdragon C sits below the company's higher performance Snapdragon X processors.

The eight core chip is expected to prioritize affordability and battery efficiency rather than maximum CPU performance. Earlier information has suggested that its CPU design has roots in older Kryo cores used in previous Qualcomm mobile processors.

That does not automatically make it unsuitable for a budget laptop. Lightweight Windows workloads generally require far less processing power than video editing, software development or high end gaming.

However, buyers should keep expectations realistic. The Aspire Go 15 is unlikely to match Apple's A18 Pro based MacBook Neo in processor performance, particularly during heavier workloads.

Acer has paired the processor with a straightforward 15.6 inch IPS display using a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The full HD panel and conventional 16:9 format should be adequate for productivity, browsing and streaming.

Connectivity is reasonably broad for an inexpensive laptop. You get two USB C ports, one USB A connection and HDMI 1.4, along with Wi Fi 6E. Acer also includes a full size keyboard, a 1080p webcam and dual speakers.

Battery capacity is rated at 53 Wh, although official runtime figures have not yet been provided.

At £499, the Aspire Go 15 is clearly positioned around price. It offers the same 8 GB memory capacity as the MacBook Neo while costing £200 less, but it also includes half the storage and a less powerful processor.

Its value will ultimately depend on real world Snapdragon C performance, battery life, storage expandability and build quality. For buyers who mainly need an affordable Windows laptop for everyday work, the Aspire Go 15 could still be a practical option if those areas hold up well.
