Microsoft has announced five games for its Halloween weekend Xbox Free Play Days promotion, allowing eligible Xbox players to try selected titles without purchasing them.
The lineup includes Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Dead by Daylight, Darkwood, Spirittea, and Everspace 2, offering a mix of survival horror, action RPGs, simulation, and space combat.
Most games are available from October 29 through November 1, 2026, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential subscribers.
Dead by Daylight receives a longer promotional period and can be played without a Game Pass subscription.
Xbox Free Play Days Includes Five Games for Halloween
The promotion focuses primarily on horror themed games, although two titles provide alternatives for players interested in more relaxed experiences.
| Game | Genre | Free access |
|---|---|---|
| Wuchang: Fallen Feathers | Soulslike action RPG | Oct 29 to Nov 1 |
| Dead by Daylight | Multiplayer survival horror | Oct 28 to Nov 2 |
| Darkwood | Survival horror | Oct 29 to Nov 1 |
| Spirittea | Cozy life simulation | Weekend promotion |
| Everspace 2 | Space action RPG | Oct 29 to Nov 1 |
Dead by Daylight is available to all Xbox players during its promotional period, regardless of subscription status.
The other announced titles are part of the subscriber focused Free Play Days selection.
Wuchang and Dead by Daylight Lead the Halloween Selection
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a challenging action RPG set in a fictional version of China's Shu region.
Players control a pirate warrior suffering from a mysterious disease while fighting monsters and exploring dangerous environments.
The game emphasizes difficult combat encounters, character progression, and exploration.
Dead by Daylight offers a different horror experience built around asymmetric multiplayer.
Four survivors attempt to escape while another player controls a killer hunting them.
The game also features characters associated with several established horror franchises.
Meanwhile, Darkwood provides a single player survival horror experience viewed from above, focusing on exploration, resource management, and difficult decisions.
Spirittea and Everspace 2 Offer Different Experiences
Players seeking something less frightening can try Spirittea, a life simulation game centered around managing a bathhouse for spirits.
Everspace 2 provides space exploration and combat, allowing players to upgrade spacecraft and battle enemies across different environments.
Both titles offer alternatives to the weekend's horror focused selection.
Xbox Free Play Days provides temporary access to participating games, meaning continued play after the promotional period generally requires purchasing the game or accessing it through another eligible subscription.
The promotion runs through November 1 for most titles, while Dead by Daylight remains available to try until November 2, 2026.
