A new community-developed plugin allows Steam Deck owners to replace the handheld's default home screen with an interface resembling the Xbox Series X|S dashboard.
Called Decky Xbox Dashboard, the modification recreates Microsoft's console navigation system while retaining access to Steam games, achievements, compatibility information, and other features.
The plugin was developed by a community creator known as kromossomom and is available through GitHub.
Although it changes the appearance of the Steam Deck interface, it does not replace SteamOS or turn the device into an Xbox console.
The modification provides another customization option for players who prefer Microsoft's dashboard design over Valve's standard interface.
Decky Xbox Dashboard Adds Familiar Xbox Navigation
Decky Xbox Dashboard replaces the Steam Deck's home interface with a layout inspired by modern Xbox consoles.
The plugin includes sections such as My Games & Apps, Store, Community, and System.
Players can move between these sections using the handheld's LB and RB buttons, providing navigation similar to an Xbox controller.
The modification also introduces dedicated game pages containing useful information about installed titles.

For example, selecting a game and pressing the Y button opens additional details, including compatibility information and achievements.
These features help reproduce the experience of browsing a game library through the Xbox dashboard.
The developer has also acknowledged using Claude AI during the plugin's development.
How to Install the Xbox Dashboard on Steam Deck
Installing the community plugin requires Decky Loader, a popular tool used to manage Steam Deck interface modifications.
Once Decky Loader is installed, the process involves downloading the plugin package and enabling manual installation.
- Install Decky Loader on your Steam Deck.
- Download the Decky Xbox Dashboard ZIP package from its GitHub repository.
- Open the Steam Deck Quick Access menu and navigate to Decky.
- Open Settings, select General, and enable Developer Mode.
- Navigate to Developer settings and select Install Plugin from ZIP.
- Choose the downloaded package to install the dashboard.
Because this is an unofficial modification, compatibility and stability may vary following SteamOS or Steam client updates.
Xbox Inspired Interface Expands Steam Deck Customization
The plugin demonstrates how community developers can modify the Steam Deck experience without changing its underlying operating system.
Its interface could appeal to players familiar with Xbox consoles who want similar navigation on Valve's handheld.
However, the modification does not introduce native Xbox game compatibility, Xbox Game Pass downloads, or other features that require Microsoft's platform.
There is also no confirmed Windows handheld version for devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally.
For now, Decky Xbox Dashboard offers Steam Deck owners an alternative interface while keeping their existing Steam library and gaming functionality accessible.
