Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has received a new gameplay trailer focused on the Space Marines, showing off their infantry, vehicles, commanders and battlefield abilities ahead of the game's December 3, 2026 release on PC.
The new footage arrives shortly after a cinematic trailer introduced the faction and gives a much clearer look at how Space Marines will function in actual matches.
One major change compared with earlier Dawn of War games is that the faction will be divided into two sub factions. Players can choose between the returning Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels, giving the Space Marines more internal variety than before.
Space Marines Get a Broad Mix of Infantry Units
The Space Marines roster covers ranged combat, frontline assaults, stealth, defensive roles and heavy anti vehicle firepower.
Intercessor Squads provide ranged support, while Assault Intercessors move aggressively into close combat using chainswords and jetpacks.
Infiltrator Squads can move behind enemy lines and target important units from range. Bladeguard Veterans are designed to absorb enemy attention and protect more vulnerable forces.
Eradicator Squads specialize in attacking buildings and vehicles, while Terminator Squads provide heavily armored troops capable of dealing with some of the toughest enemy units on the battlefield.
| Unit | Battlefield role |
|---|---|
| Intercessor Squad | Ranged infantry |
| Assault Intercessor Squad | Close combat assault |
| Infiltrator Squad | Stealth and precision attacks |
| Bladeguard Veterans | Defensive frontline protection |
| Eradicator Squad | Anti vehicle and anti structure firepower |
| Terminator Squad | Heavy armored combat |
| Outrider | Fast hit and run attacks |
| Repulsor Executioner | Heavy plasma armed vehicle |
| Redemptor Dreadnought | Heavy mechanical combat unit |
The vehicle roster is similarly varied.
Outrider motorcycles support fast attacks and repositioning, while Drop Pods can bring reinforcements into combat. Repulsor Executioner tanks use plasma weapons against enemy forces, and Redemptor Dreadnoughts provide heavily armed mechanical support.
Blood Ravens and Dark Angels Get Unique Commanders
Each Space Marine sub faction includes two unique commander units.
The Blood Ravens can deploy Captain Cyrus, a stealth focused marksman, alongside Librarian Jonah Orion, who uses Warp based abilities.

The Dark Angels receive Astoran, a commander equipped with Terminator armor, and Ezrael, a Chaplain who enters battle on a motorcycle.
These commanders should help distinguish the two Space Marine branches even though they share the same wider faction identity.
Defensive Structures and Strategic Abilities Add More Options
Space Marines can also construct unique defenses on top of Control Points, helping protect captured resources.
They can call fortified strongholds down from orbit to increase unit production and reinforce positions.
Limited use Strategems add another layer of tactical flexibility. One example shown allows players to order Thunderhawk aircraft to conduct bombing runs against enemy forces.
The trailer suggests the faction is designed to support both offensive and defensive strategies while remaining relatively approachable for players who may be returning to real time strategy after a long absence.
Dawn of War IV Launches December 3
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is scheduled to release on PC on December 3, 2026.
Players who purchase the Commander Edition will receive three days of early access beginning November 30.
The game will feature four playable factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. Players will be able to use them across single player campaigns and multiplayer modes.
The latest Space Marines trailer makes it clear that the faction will offer a large number of tactical options, from stealth infantry and durable defensive units to motorcycles, tanks, Dreadnoughts and orbital support.
