Sony's 48-inch BRAVIA 6 OLED 4K TV is listed at $1,098.00 on Amazon at the time of writing, and the interesting part is how little that undercuts Sony itself. Sony's own store has the same K-48A60 at $1,099.99, so the gap between the two is $1.99.
What you get is a 48-inch OLED panel, four HDMI ports with 2.1 features, and Google TV with Gemini built in. That matters because almost everything else at this screen size is LCD, and OLED is the reason to look here at all.
What the $1,098 price actually means
Amazon shows a list price of $1,299.99 and a 16 percent savings badge, which works out to $201.99 off. The listing is marked In Stock, and the buy box says the TV ships from and is sold by Amazon.com rather than a marketplace seller.
Sony's product page for the K-48A60 prints a sale price of $1,099.99 against an original price of $1,299.99, a $200.00 saving in Sony's own words. So the $1,299.99 anchor is a real launch figure, but neither retailer is charging it.
Read against the price people can actually pay elsewhere, the Amazon deal saves $1.99. No verified price history was available for this model, so there is no basis here for calling $1,098.00 a record low.

Sony says the panel uses "over 8 million self-lit pixels" and adds Triluminos Pro for what the company calls over a billion accurate colors. Abt's spec listing for the same model gives a native refresh rate of 120Hz.

Four HDMI ports with 2.1 features
Sony's listing copy promises "4 HDMI PORTS WITH 2.1 FEATURES" and high-performance gaming through 4K/120, VRR, ALLM and SBTM.
That is a features claim rather than a bandwidth claim, and the distinction is easy to miss.
Sony does not publish a Gbps figure or a per-port table for this model, so there is no way to confirm from the listing that all four ports run at full speed. Abt describes the layout as two side ports and two bottom ports.
Sony also attaches a caveat to the gaming claims, noting that a "game title supporting VRR and/or 4K/120fps" is required and that VRR results vary by game. Four ports is still generous next to rivals that limit the high-bandwidth inputs to two.
Panel and processor details Sony leaves out
The BRAVIA 6 has been reported to use a WOLED panel supplied by LG Display, widely believed to be the cheaper OLED SE type, rather than QD-OLED. Sony does not name a panel supplier or sub-type anywhere on its product page.
The processor has also been reported as MediaTek's Pentonic 800 chip, which would place it below Sony's own Cognitive Processor XR in the pricier BRAVIA sets. Again, Sony's page names no processor at all.
Treat both as unconfirmed. Neither claim comes from Sony, and the difference matters if upscaling and motion handling are what pulled you toward the brand in the first place.
How it stacks up against other 48-inch sets
Sony's older 48-inch A90K BRAVIA XR is cheaper at $998.00, though that listing is sold by P.C. Richard & Son and shows only three units left. LG's 48-inch C5 OLED evo sits at $1,599.99 on LG's own store, with an Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen8 and a 144Hz refresh rate.

If OLED is not the requirement, the Hisense 50-inch Hi-QLED S7 CanvasTV is $797.99 against a $1,299.99 list price, with an anti-glare matte panel and an art mode. Sony's sibling model showed a similar pattern when the 77-inch BRAVIA 6 fell to $2,198, and the same size-versus-panel trade-off came up with the 65-inch Samsung S85H at $1,397.99.
Cheaper panels remain an option too, as the 55-inch TCL QM64L mini-LED under $500 and the LG C5 at $1,099 in an earlier deal both showed. What none of these listings settle is brightness, since Sony publishes no nit figure for the K-48A60 and no retailer spec sheet checked carries one.
Measured input lag, color gamut coverage and speaker wattage are equally absent, and Sony gives no end date for its own $1,099.99 sale. Prices and stock can change at any point, and a $1.99 advantage is the kind that disappears quietly.
