Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 Drops to $328.99 at Amazon, $171 Under Samsung's Own Price

Samsung's 27-inch Odyssey OLED G5 is $328.99 at Amazon, and the $171 cut is measured against a price Samsung itself is still charging. Samsung's own store lists the same G50SF at $499.99, so the discount is not anchored to a number nobody asks for.

The price is open to everyone. It is not a Prime-members-only price, and Amazon holds the buy box directly rather than a marketplace reseller.

What you get is a 27-inch QD-OLED panel at 2,560 by 1,440, running 180Hz with a 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time. That puts a self-emissive panel with a million-to-one contrast ratio into the price band normally occupied by LCD monitors.

The trade-off is refresh rate. Rivals in this bracket now run 240Hz, and the G5 stops at 180Hz.

The 180Hz figure comes with a port condition

Amazon's bullet points advertise a flat "180Hz Refresh Rate" with no qualifier. Samsung's own spec sheet is more specific, and the gap matters.

According to Samsung's specifications for the G50SF, DisplayPort tops out at 180Hz while HDMI tops out at 144Hz. There is one DisplayPort input and one HDMI input, so exactly one cable on the monitor reaches the headline number.

That DisplayPort is version 1.2, and the HDMI is 2.0. The listing names no port versions at all, which is how a 2026 OLED can quietly arrive with an older display interface.

There is no USB-C and no USB hub. The remaining connection is a headphone jack, and the panel mounts on a 100 by 100mm VESA pattern.

Brightness is the number the listing avoids

Amazon's copy promises "the highest levels of color accuracy and brightness" and then gives no figure for either. Samsung publishes 200 cd/m² typical and 190 cd/m² minimum.

Samsung does not publish a peak brightness for this model, and it does not state the window size that any such figure would be measured at. For an OLED, where small highlights are the whole point, that absence is worth noting rather than guessing around.

HDR support is HDR10 and nothing further. There is no DisplayHDR True Black certification on this one, which separates it from the pricier Odyssey panels such as the 500Hz Odyssey OLED G6.

On burn-in, Samsung says the G50SF uses OLED Safeguard with a thermal modulation system, and its spec page states that "burn-in at normal usage covered within warranty". However, neither Samsung's US product page nor the Amazon listing states how many years that warranty runs.

How it compares with other QD-OLED monitors

The G5 is not the cheapest QD-OLED on Amazon right now, and it is the slowest of the three closest rivals. The Acer Predator X27U W1 sits at $314.99, undercutting Samsung while running 240Hz, though it is 26.5 inches rather than 27 and its listing shows neither a list price nor a stock line.

The MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 is $349.99, down from $399.99. It adds 240Hz, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a, and a height-adjustable stand, but its listing says it usually ships within six to nine days.

Spending considerably more buys refresh rate. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD) is $603.71, down from $899.99, and that listing does advertise a three-year warranty.

Samsung has been discounting across the Odyssey range, including the non-OLED Odyssey G6 G60F at $337.99. That one is faster on paper at 350Hz, but it is an LCD, so the contrast comparison is not close.

Check the condition before you buy

The same Amazon page carries a second, cheaper offer at $303.27 that is not a new unit. It is an open-box listing sold by Amazon Resale, and it sits directly beneath the new buy box.

The $328.99 figure is the new-condition price, shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon also shows a $278.99 price for buyers approved for its store card, which is a credit offer rather than the cash price.

Several numbers simply are not published here. There is no peak brightness figure from Samsung, no warranty length on either the listing or Samsung's US page, and no stated end date for the discount.

Amazon's bullets also claim both G-Sync compatibility and AMD FreeSync, while Samsung's US page lists only G-Sync Compatible for this SKU. Prices and stock were correct at the time of writing and can change without notice. It is worth confirming the condition and the seller on the page before ordering, as with the Acer Predator X27U W1 deal running alongside it.
