Even though we’re in the middle of summer - the season with the fewest gadget launches - it’s time for Samsung’s foldable smartphones and smartwatches to take the spotlight. This year, it’s not just two phones as in the past, but three. And not just one new smartwatch, but again - three! Samsung is being quite generous when it comes to the number of devices they’re launching, don’t you think? As a result, there were many gadgets to photograph and present to you, our readers. If you want to find out what’s new about all these Samsung devices in terms of design, hardware, and software, read on:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: bigger, thinner, lighter, more powerful
The star of this launch is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. The new model not only looks great but also comes with some important improvements. As expected, it’s equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, and the RAM has been upgraded from last year’s 12GB to 16GB. The camera system is impressive and has received some notable upgrades: the wide lens on the back now features 200 Megapixels instead of 50, and the main front-facing camera now boasts a significantly better 10-megapixel sensor, replacing the previous 4-megapixel one on the Galaxy Z Fold6. Samsung promises a photo and video experience comparable to that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring clearer videos, reduced digital noise, brighter photos, and wider-angle, more aesthetically pleasing selfies. A welcome upgrade, wouldn’t you agree?

The screen sizes have also improved. The main display has increased from 7.6 to 8 inches, and the cover screen is now 6.5 inches, up from 6.3. The resolution has been slightly increased to 2184 x 1968 for the main screen and 2520 x 1090 for the cover screen. The front screen now features a 21:9 aspect ratio, similar to that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This means even more room for productivity, an essential aspect for those looking to get the most out of a Galaxy Z Fold device.

You can enjoy a large screen and a thinner smartphone
We now have a smartphone that’s more powerful and larger, yet thinner and lighter than its predecessor. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold7 measures 143.2 x 158.4 x 4.2 mm (down from 132.6 x 153.5 x 5.6 mm). When closed, it measures 72.8 x 158.4 x 8.9 mm (previously 68.1 x 153.5 x 12.11 mm). And its weight has dropped from 239 grams on the Galaxy Z Fold6 to 215 grams. 🙂
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7: bigger, thinner, more durable
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 also features display improvements. The main screen has expanded from 6.7 inches (similar to the Flip6) to 6.9 inches, and the secondary screen has increased significantly from 3.4 to 4.1 inches. As a result, the secondary screen now has a much higher resolution of 948 x 1048 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This makes it more informative, responsive, and useful than ever before.

I like that thinner phones now come with larger screens. The Galaxy Z Flip7 measures 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5 mm when open (an increase from 161.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm) and 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7 mm when closed (down from 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm). It weighs only 188 grams, and there’s room for a larger battery as well - upgraded from 4000 mAh to 4300 mAh.

The secondary screen is much larger than before
Samsung also focused on improving durability, with the frame and hinge made from Armor Aluminum version 2. However, there’s one change that might not sit well with everyone: the chipset was swapped from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (on the Z Flip6) to the Exynos 2500. No real-world performance or efficiency figures are available so far. I’m curious to test it out soon and find out more. 🙂
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE: the surprise of this launch!
Those following the latest rumors already knew that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE was on the way. I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had a chance to read any news, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this model. It’s equipped with a slightly older processor, the Exynos 2400, and a more modest 4000 mAh battery. But its goal is to deliver the Flip experience at a more accessible price, so I expected some compromises. Its screens are similar to those on the Galaxy Z Flip6 in terms of size, resolution, and refresh rates: the main screen is 6.7 inches with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and the secondary screen is 3.4 inches with a 60 Hz refresh rate.

This model will be available in two configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. Samsung also uses Armor Aluminum 2 on this model, but only for the smartphone’s body, not the hinge.

Looks good, doesn't it?
The camera system appears to be identical to the one on the Galaxy Z Flip6, featuring a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera on the back, as well as a 10MP front-facing camera. I’m curious how successful this foldable device will be. I think it looks good and has a premium feel, and the lower price point will make it accessible to a wider audience.
One last important detail: all three foldable phones come preloaded with OneUI 8, based on Android 16. Outside of Google’s Pixel devices, these are among the first smartphones to use the latest Android ecosystem software. 🙂
Three new smartwatches: Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)
Another surprise is that Samsung didn’t just release one new smartwatch this year, but three different models. From right to left, we have Galaxy Watch Ultra (the largest and most advanced), Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch 8. Samsung focused on providing brighter screens and on making them thinner than previous models. Not only do they come in different sizes, but they also use different materials. The Ultra model features a titanium body, the Classic is made of stainless steel, and the Watch 8 uses aluminum.
The Galaxy Watch 8 is the only one available in two sizes:
- Large: with a size of 43.7 x 46 x 8.6 mm and weighing 34 grams
- Small: with a size of 40.4 x 42.7 x 8.6 mm and a weight of 30 grams
The Watch 8 Classic measures 46.4 x 46 x 10.6 mm and weighs 63.5 grams, while the Watch Ultra measures 47.1 x 47.4 x 12.1 mm and weighs 60.5 grams - slightly lighter, even though it’s larger. 🙂

The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is the only model that can be used for ocean swimming, withstanding pressure up to 10 ATM. In terms of health sensors and metrics, the lineup introduces new measurements for antioxidant levels, vascular load, and the AGEs index (Advanced Glycation End Products). This index evaluates metabolic health, highlighting the impact of diet and lifestyle on the natural aging process. Sounds intriguing, right? I’m curious to learn more and hope to have the opportunity to test one of these models soon.
