Samsung reports 45% higher Galaxy Z Fold sales in Europe

Samsung says European sales of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra were 45% higher in their first nine weeks than Galaxy Z Fold7 sales over the equivalent period last year.

The company announced the figures on October 22, following the new phones' August 7 launch. It also reported a sharp rise in searches for its foldables during September, pointing to growing interest beyond the initial launch window.

According to Samsung's announcement, Google searches across 32 European markets rose more than 260% from August to September. Searches jumped 460% during September 6-12 compared with the preceding week.

Those figures measure different things: sales growth is year-over-year, while the search increases compare consecutive months and weeks. Samsung has not published unit totals or said how sales divide between the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra.

The combined result also reflects a broader Fold lineup. This year, Samsung offers two book-style models where the comparison period had the Fold7, giving buyers a choice between different sizes and camera systems.

The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 takes a shorter, wider shape, with a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch folding display. At 201 grams, it is the lighter of the two.

The Fold8 Ultra has a larger 8-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch cover display, weighing 215 grams. Its rear camera system includes a 200MP main camera and a dedicated telephoto, compared with the standard Fold8's two 50MP cameras.

Both phones use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processors, according to Samsung's launch specifications. That leaves the display layout and cameras among the more obvious reasons to choose one Fold over the other.

For now, the sales announcement establishes a stronger European launch for the combined Fold range. It does not show which of the two designs is driving that growth.
