OneXPlayer has started selling the X2 Mini Pro, a high performance Windows gaming handheld built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 388 processor and an 8.8 inch OLED display.
The device follows an earlier crowdfunding campaign and is now available through the company’s online store. Prices begin at $2,499 for a configuration with 48GB of memory and a 1TB solid state drive. The most expensive launch configuration costs $3,079 and includes 64GB of memory, 2TB of storage and an external liquid cooling accessory.
OneXPlayer describes the current prices as introductory discounts, suggesting that the handheld may become more expensive later. Even at launch pricing, the X2 Mini Pro costs as much as many premium gaming laptops and complete desktop systems.

The 8.8 inch OLED display supports up to 144Hz
The X2 Mini Pro uses an 8.8 inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its variable refresh rate can move between 30Hz and 144Hz, helping the screen match the frame rate produced by the hardware.
The display supports HDR and covers the full DCI P3 colour range. OneXPlayer also claims a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. As an OLED panel, it can switch individual pixels off to produce deep black levels and strong contrast in dark scenes.
The combination of OLED technology and a 144Hz maximum refresh rate should provide smooth motion and fast response times. However, reaching 144 frames per second will depend on the game, resolution and graphics settings.
Running demanding games at the panel’s native resolution may require reduced quality settings or image upscaling. Less demanding competitive titles should make better use of the higher refresh rate.
Ryzen AI Max+ 388 includes powerful Radeon 8060S graphics
The handheld is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 388, a Strix Halo processor with eight CPU cores and 16 threads. It operates between 3.6GHz and 5GHz and includes 8MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache.
Its integrated Radeon 8060S graphics processor contains 40 compute units and can reach frequencies of up to 2.9GHz. This is a much larger graphics configuration than the integrated GPUs found in most gaming handhelds.

The processor also includes a neural processing unit rated for up to 50 TOPS of AI performance. OneXPlayer lists total system AI performance of up to 118 TOPS when the CPU, GPU and NPU are considered together.
These capabilities may help with supported AI applications and Windows features, but gaming performance remains the main reason to consider the device. The large memory options can also benefit the integrated GPU because system RAM is shared between the processor and graphics hardware.
External liquid cooling can raise sustained power to 120 watts
Some configurations include OneXPlayer’s Frost Bay cooling accessory. This external unit uses a liquid cooling system housed inside a machined metal enclosure with RGB lighting.
The company claims the accessory can allow the X2 Mini Pro to sustain up to 120 watts of power. Higher power limits may improve performance during demanding games and productivity workloads, provided the processor and cooling system can maintain stable temperatures.
This setup also changes how the device is used. Connecting an external cooler reduces portability and makes the X2 Mini Pro function more like a compact desktop computer. Power consumption, fan noise and heat output are also likely to increase at the highest performance setting.
Independent testing will be needed to determine how much extra gaming performance the cooler provides compared with the handheld’s standard internal cooling system.
Detachable controllers and keyboard add flexibility
The X2 Mini Pro uses removable controllers attached to both sides of the display. This allows the main unit to be placed on a desk while the controls are used separately.
A removable keyboard is also available, giving the system more flexibility for web browsing, communication and general Windows tasks. Together, these accessories allow the handheld to operate as a portable gaming system, a small laptop alternative or a desktop device connected to a larger display.
The hardware is impressive, but price remains the main concern. At $2,499 or more, the X2 Mini Pro competes with powerful gaming laptops that include larger displays, dedicated graphics cards and conventional keyboards.
Its appeal will therefore depend on whether you specifically want Strix Halo performance in a handheld format. The OLED screen, detachable controls and large memory options create a distinctive package, but this level of portability carries a substantial premium.
