MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has received update version 1.2.1 on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, bringing a requested level replay feature, uncapped Variable Refresh Rate support, performance improvements, and a large collection of bug fixes.
The update is described as the game’s biggest so far. Its main addition is Level Revisit, which lets you return to previously completed stages to collect anything you missed and finish incomplete side quests.
You can access the feature from the overworld map by driving to a completed level and selecting the Revisit option. After finishing the game, you will now return to the HUB area following the credits, giving you access to the map instead of leaving you without an easy way to revisit earlier content.
Existing completed saves are also supported. Loading your latest save or selecting Continue should take you back to the HUB, where completed levels can be replayed.
The update improves performance and control options across all platforms
Version 1.2.1 introduces uncapped Variable Refresh Rate support for compatible displays. It also includes a general performance and optimization pass intended to improve stability and smoothness throughout the game.
The Weapon Wheel has received several upgrades. It now displays weapon upgrade levels more clearly, while its visual states and general readability have also been improved.
Other new options include horizontal camera inversion, better settings menu navigation, audio confirmation when applying changes, and a more reliable control rebinding system.
| Major addition | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Level Revisit | Allows completed stages to be replayed |
| Uncapped VRR | Supports smoother output on compatible displays |
| Performance optimization | Improves general performance across the game |
| Weapon Wheel update | Shows upgrade levels and improves readability |
| Horizontal inversion | Adds another camera control option |
| Rebinding overhaul | Makes custom controls more reliable |
| HUB return after credits | Makes post game exploration easier |
A failsafe has also been added for players who missed the kick tutorial in Vaudeville. This should prevent later progression problems linked to not learning the mechanic earlier.
Xbox fixes focus heavily on crashes and progression blockers
The Xbox specific section of the update addresses several crashes caused by memory limits. These include problems in Bandel’s Mansion, The Unknown, Far Wetlands, MANGIA & MANGIA Secret Show, and World’s Fair.
The patch also fixes freezes during level transitions and when switching between graphics presets after extended play. The save menu should now open more reliably even when many save files are stored.
Several progression issues have been corrected. Players should no longer be able to leave the docks incorrectly in Wallop Bay, access a crane that causes technical problems, or teleport outside the world after loading Bandel’s Mansion.
Enemy behavior has also received attention. Some enemies could disappear and immediately respawn after a cutscene, while others could hide behind environmental objects. Both problems have been addressed.
The Xbox update also fixes incorrect difficulty highlighting, flickering rocks, floating objects, missing localization characters, and quest objectives that could appear twice.
The wider patch resolves dozens of gameplay and save problems
Across all platforms, the update includes a very large number of progression fixes. These address invisible barriers, closed doors, broken elevators, teleport loops, missing quest triggers, out of world falls, and situations where weapons or important items could no longer be used.
Several missions received specific corrections, including The Depths, Office Ruins, Wallop Bay, Tinsel Avenue, Old Subway, Quagmire, Bandel’s Mansion, and Curdsville Nuthouse.

Combat fixes include corrected armor protection against explosive damage, improved fuel tank hit registration during the Ze Professor encounter, proper infinite ammunition for the Hellrazor during the finale, and fixes for weapons firing in unintended bursts.
The save system has also been improved. One issue could stop a quest from being completed because clues were not saved correctly on the Detective Wall. Other fixes address missing clue images, broken equipment states after loading, and incorrect weapon behavior.
Performance improvements include a fix for camera stuttering when using Bluetooth controllers and a frame rate drop in the Cheeselegger boss arena.
PC and Xbox Play Anywhere receive additional fixes
The PC version now supports ultrawide and super ultrawide displays at 21:9 and 32:9. It also receives separate fixes for crashes, incorrect resolutions, borderless mode performance, frame rate limits, and VSync behavior.
Xbox Play Anywhere fixes address invisible characters, toxic damage triggering too early, incorrect loading zones, visual occlusion problems, and Discord interface elements overlapping Xbox account information.
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire launched in April 2026 and is available on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Update 1.2.1 is available now and gives returning players a better way to complete missed content while resolving many of the technical problems reported since release.
