Mirror’s Edge has officially received the Steam Deck Verified badge, giving Valve’s handheld a new green checkmark for one of the most recognizable first person action games of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era.
The 2008 parkour focused title now meets Valve’s main compatibility requirements for Steam Deck. Its default controller layout works correctly, the game displays the right controller icons, text remains readable on the handheld screen, and the default graphics configuration is considered suitable.
There is one small limitation. If you connect an external Bluetooth or USB controller, you may need to manually change the active controller configuration.
Mirror’s Edge runs well on Steam Deck
The game’s age helps it perform comfortably on current handheld hardware.
Testing shows Mirror’s Edge can reach 60 FPS on Steam Deck at its native resolution while using high quality graphics settings. That makes the Verified status a good fit for the actual experience rather than simply a technical compatibility label.
| Detail | Steam Deck performance |
|---|---|
| Steam Deck status | Verified |
| Target frame rate | 60 FPS |
| Resolution | Native Steam Deck resolution |
| Graphics preset | High quality |
| Controller support | Works by default |
| External controller note | Manual switching may be required |
| First launch issue | PhysX may require manual installation |
| Steam price | $19.99 |
The main issue appears during first time setup, where PhysX may need to be installed manually. Once that is handled, the game reportedly runs without major problems.
For a title built around fast movement, wall running and precise first person platforming, stable performance is especially important. Mirror’s Edge relies heavily on responsive controls, so maintaining 60 FPS helps preserve the feel of the original game.
Steam Machine testing also shows strong results
Mirror’s Edge was also tested on the Steam Machine, where it can run at 2560 x 1440 resolution and 60 FPS using high quality settings.

Pushing the game to its highest available settings can introduce some minor frame rate drops while moving through certain areas. Lowering a few settings is enough to bring performance back toward a more consistent 60 FPS.
That result is not particularly surprising for a game released in 2008, but it still demonstrates how easily the title can scale across modern Steam hardware.
Verified status arrives years after Steam Deck launch
Mirror’s Edge has been playable on Steam Deck for some time, so the new Verified rating does not suddenly make the game functional. Instead, it gives players an official indication that the default experience now meets Valve’s compatibility standards.
The Verified program checks areas such as controller support, text readability, default graphics settings and whether the game requires unsupported manual interaction.
Mirror’s Edge now satisfies those requirements, aside from the possible external controller adjustment and the first time PhysX setup noted during testing.
The game remains available on Steam for $19.99.
For anyone who has been waiting for an official compatibility rating before revisiting Faith’s original adventure on a handheld, the new Steam Deck Verified badge provides that confirmation.
