Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has received Sim Update 6, bringing a long list of fixes, lighting improvements and returning activities, along with a notable graphics update for NVIDIA players.
The update is now rolling out and is relatively small by Flight Simulator standards, coming in at under 4GB on PC in the reported installation.
One planned feature did not make the final release, however. AMD FSR 4 support has been rolled back because of compatibility problems involving FSR 4 Frame Generation.

The biggest graphics related disappointment affects Radeon players.
FSR 4 had been planned for Sim Update 6, but the development team encountered compatibility issues with its Frame Generation implementation. Work is continuing with AMD, but the feature has been removed from this release.
As a result, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 continues to use FSR 3, matching the implementation available in Sim Update 5.1.
The game will still display the relevant FSR version according to the software available for your GPU.
NVIDIA players get DLSS 4.5
NVIDIA hardware receives a more significant upgrade in this release.
DLSS 4.5 has been added as the new default upscaling option, together with Dynamic Frame Generation and support for in game VSync.
That creates a clear difference between the NVIDIA and AMD graphics paths in Sim Update 6, at least until the FSR 4 compatibility problems are resolved.
There is currently no confirmed date for when FSR 4 will return.
Bush Trips return from Flight Simulator 2020
Sim Update 6 also brings back Bush Trips, a popular activity from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
The full collection is available through the Activities menu in Flight Simulator 2024.
Guided Tours can also now be accessed from the same area, making these structured flying experiences easier to find.
Bush Trips are designed around longer routes and guided exploration, giving you predefined journeys through different regions rather than requiring you to create a flight from scratch.
Lighting and career mode also receive attention
The update includes a range of visual improvements, particularly around lighting.
Career mode also receives additional changes, while developers get several updates aimed at improving tools and functionality behind the simulator.
Beyond the headline features, Sim Update 6 contains a much larger collection of smaller fixes and adjustments across the game.
The release follows a beta testing period that allowed the development team to evaluate the update before moving it into the stable version.
For AMD Radeon players, the missing FSR 4 upgrade is the main limitation of the release. NVIDIA players, meanwhile, gain DLSS 4.5 and Dynamic Frame Generation immediately.
Even without FSR 4, Sim Update 6 still brings a substantial collection of improvements to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, particularly for players interested in returning activities, visual changes and continued refinement of the simulator.
