Insomniac Games has released Marvel’s Wolverine Update 1.001.006, adding new options that let you disable several guidance features that previously appeared automatically during exploration.
The update introduces individual on and off toggles for Whisky Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and the roots that indicate Nightmare Door locations. Story critical Senses will still appear in the game, so the new settings do not remove every form of directional assistance.
The patch also fixes several crashes and addresses problems affecting missions, Photo Mode, object rendering, and environmental assets.

Most optional guidance can now be disabled
The biggest change is the addition of new Senses settings.
Players can now disable the scent trails connected to Whisky Bottles, the audio cues used to highlight Material Crates, and the roots that point toward Nightmare Doors.
These systems were designed to make important objects and locations easier to find, but some players found the constant visual and audio guidance distracting.
A previous update had already reduced the intensity of the scent trails. Update 1.001.006 goes further by letting players turn several of those features off completely.
Story critical Senses remain mandatory
The new settings do have one limitation.
Insomniac says story critical Senses will continue to appear in the world.
That means guidance tied directly to required story progression cannot currently be disabled.
The supplied update notes do not say whether a separate toggle for those elements is planned in a future patch.
Players who want to remove nearly all interface driven guidance can now do much more than before, but the game will still use certain Senses cues when they are considered necessary for the story.
Several crashes have been fixed
Update 1.001.006 also includes multiple stability improvements.
Insomniac says several crashes identified through crash logs and community reports have been addressed.
The patch notes do not list each crash individually, so the exact situations affected are not specified.
These fixes arrive alongside more targeted corrections for missions and visual problems.
The One That Got Away progression bug is fixed
One of the more important gameplay fixes affects the mission The One That Got Away.
Players could previously become stuck after sliding down a tree during the mission.
The new update fixes that progression issue.
This should prevent affected players from being unable to continue after reaching that point.
Photo Mode claws and white object bugs are addressed
The patch also corrects misaligned claws in Photo Mode.
A separate rare problem where objects could turn white after extended play sessions has also been fixed.

Insomniac additionally corrected an overlapping bathroom sign in the casino that was caused by a UV mapping problem.
These changes are smaller than the new Senses options, but they address visual issues that could become noticeable during longer sessions or when using Photo Mode.
Marvel’s Wolverine is available on PS5
Marvel’s Wolverine is currently available on PlayStation 5.
The supplied report also mentions a claim that the game sold 1.9 million units during its first few days, but that figure is presented as a report rather than an officially confirmed sales total.
Update 1.001.006 is mainly focused on giving players more control over how much environmental guidance they see and hear, while also improving stability and correcting several specific bugs.
The addition of the new toggles is the most significant change for players who prefer to explore with less assistance, although story critical Senses will remain active for now.
