LG Electronics has announced a new premium gaming monitor lineup called UltraGear evo, aiming to push high-end PC gaming into the 5K era. The new displays promise ultra-sharp visuals, high refresh rates, and built-in AI processing designed to reduce the hardware demands of 5K gaming.

A new push toward 5K gaming
The UltraGear evo brand sits above LG’s existing UltraGear lineup and focuses on 5K and 5K2K resolutions across multiple panel technologies. LG positions these monitors as a solution for gamers who want extreme clarity without relying exclusively on top-tier GPUs.
A key part of that strategy involves on-device AI processing. This handles resolution upscaling and image optimization directly inside the monitor.
Flagship models previewed
LG has confirmed several high-end models as part of the initial UltraGear evo lineup.
One highlight is a 27-inch 5K Mini LED gaming monitor. It which combines a dense Mini LED backlight with thousands of local dimming zones. The display supports a 165 Hz refresh rate at native 5K, with a secondary mode that drops to QHD resolution for up to 330 Hz competitive gaming.
Another major entry is a 39-inch curved 5K2K OLED monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This model targets immersive gaming and creative workloads, pairing OLED contrast with fast response times and high refresh support.
LG has also teased a 52-inch ultrawide 5K2K display, designed as a large-format gaming monitor for desk or sim-rig setups. This model focuses on immersion, combining size, curvature, and high refresh performance.
AI upscaling built into the display
LG highlights what it calls AI-based 5K upscaling, a feature that processes lower-resolution input and enhances it to near-5K quality in real time. Because the monitor handles this work internally, gamers can run titles at lower resolutions while still benefiting from sharper output.
The company says this approach helps reduce GPU load while maintaining image clarity, especially in demanding modern games.
HDR, speed, and gaming features
Across the UltraGear evo lineup, LG emphasizes features expected from flagship gaming monitors. These include fast response times, advanced HDR support, and certification targets for brightness and color accuracy.
Dual refresh modes appear across multiple models, allowing users to switch between ultra-high resolution and ultra-high frame rates depending on the game.
