The LG UltraGear 27GX790B-B OLED gaming monitor is listed at $679.99 on Amazon at the time of writing, sold and shipped by Amazon.com. The real saving is far larger than the badge on that listing suggests.
Amazon shows a -7% cut measured against its own $729.00 reference price. LG's own product page instead lists the monitor at $999.99 reduced to $679.99, and labels the difference as $320.00 off.
Against LG's own retail price, that is a 32% cut rather than a 7% one. LG's own press release for the monitor quotes the same $999.99 figure, so the higher reference point is the manufacturer's, not an invented one.
Why Amazon is currently the only route to this price
LG's page carries the $679.99 price but reports the SKU as out of stock, so the monitor cannot actually be bought at that price direct from LG. Amazon's listing reads In Stock, and the featured offer is sold and shipped by Amazon.com rather than by a reseller.
A secondary third-party offer also sits on the same Amazon listing, but it is not the featured price. Neither Amazon nor LG publishes a price history for this model, so how $679.99 compares with earlier prices is not documented.

Amazon's title and LG's spec table disagree on the resolution
Amazon's listing title describes the monitor as "27GX790B-B 27” Ultragear QHD (3440 x 1440)". LG's own spec table gives the native resolution as 2560 x 1440.
Those two numbers contradict each other. 3440 x 1440 is an ultrawide resolution, while this is a 16:9 panel, so LG's 2560 x 1440 figure is the one that matches the hardware.
A second, smaller mismatch sits in the size. LG markets the display as 27 inch, while its own spec table lists a screen size of 26.5 inches, the usual class-size convention.
What the 720Hz mode actually requires
Dual Mode is the headline feature. LG describes it as a hotkey toggle between QHD resolution at 540Hz and HD at 720Hz.
The first trade-off is resolution. LG never spells out the pixel count of that HD mode in text, so the 720Hz figure arrives at an unstated lower resolution.
The second trade-off is hardware. LG's own disclaimer states that 720Hz requires a graphics card supporting up to a 720Hz refresh rate at Full HD, and that the graphics card is sold separately.
The same disclaimer adds that actual refresh rates vary with computer graphics specifications and configurations. LG's spec sheet lists one DisplayPort 2.1 input with DSC, which is the connection it specifies for the high-refresh modes.
Dual-mode switching is becoming common across the category, from 4K panels that halve resolution for speed to designs that chase four-figure refresh rates at 720p.
LG UltraGear 27GX790B-B specifications and warranty
LG's own US limited warranty card for OLED monitors lists parts and labour cover of two years from the date of original retail purchase. That cover applies to internal and functional parts, including the OLED display panel, against defects in materials or workmanship under normal and proper use.
The card's exclusions name transport damage, misuse, incorrect voltage and unauthorized modification. Image retention is not named separately in that list.

How the price compares with other monitor deals
At $679.99 the 27GX790B-B still costs roughly twice what a 240Hz OLED of similar size does. The same $679 ballpark also buys an older UltraGear OLED that has been weighed against far cheaper panels, which makes the refresh rate the deciding factor here.
