PlayStation 5 emulation on PC is progressing quickly, with a fork of the KyTyPS5 emulator now reportedly able to run parts of GTA V at between 40 and 60fps on high end hardware.
The result does not mean GTA V is fully playable through PS5 emulation. The current build still suffers from crashes, missing assets, graphical problems, and other compatibility issues.
However, the progress is notable because KyTyPS5 was only beginning to boot and render more complex 3D games a short time ago.

GTA V Is Now Rendering at Much Higher Performance
The latest demonstration reportedly shows GTA V's North Yankton sections running between 40 and 60fps.
The test system used an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card, placing it firmly in the high end PC category.
Even on that hardware, the game remains far from a normal playable experience.
Assets can fail to load, visual glitches remain, and crashes are common.
The important development is that the emulator is now reaching actual 3D gameplay at relatively high frame rates in certain scenes.
That is a significant change from earlier builds that struggled to progress much beyond menus or basic rendering.
GTA 6 on PC Through Emulation Remains Speculative
The rapid improvements have led to speculation that GTA 6 could eventually run through PS5 emulation before Rockstar releases an official PC version.
That possibility should still be treated cautiously.

GTA 6 is expected to be significantly more demanding than GTA V, and running one older game through an emulator does not establish that a newer title will immediately work.
Emulators also need game specific fixes for graphics, memory management, synchronization, audio, and other console features.
Even if GTA 6 eventually boots, reaching stable and usable performance could require much more development.
Rockstar has not announced an official PC release date for GTA 6.
The console versions are currently scheduled for November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Demon's Souls Is Also Making Progress
KyTyPS5 development is not focused only on Grand Theft Auto.
The PlayStation 5 remake of Demon's Souls has also reached another milestone.
The emulator has begun rendering the game's 3D graphics, although its progress is currently less advanced than GTA V.
Demon's Souls is especially important for PS5 emulation because it remains one of the major PlayStation titles without a confirmed PC version.
Getting its 3D rendering working correctly is therefore an important technical step even if the game cannot yet be played normally.
PS5 Emulation Has Improved Rapidly
The speed of recent progress is one of the most interesting parts of the project.
Only weeks earlier, PS5 emulation was still at a stage where getting modern 3D titles to boot and display menus represented an important milestone.
Now, certain games are reaching actual gameplay and producing measurable frame rates.
That does not mean PS5 emulation is close to the maturity of older console emulators.
Compatibility, performance, shader handling, audio, input, stability, and game specific behavior still need substantial work.
The results instead show that developers are resolving some of the early technical barriers faster than expected.
High End Hardware Will Likely Be Required for Some Time
Console emulation typically adds substantial overhead compared with running a native PC version.
That means even when demanding PS5 games begin to work, they may initially require much faster PC hardware than their native equivalents.
The GTA V test already used a Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Radeon RX 7900 XT.
A game as demanding as GTA 6 could place considerably greater pressure on both the CPU and GPU when emulated.
For that reason, any early GTA 6 emulation would likely be limited to experimentation on powerful systems rather than serving as a practical replacement for an official PC release.
The latest GTA V and Demon's Souls results nevertheless show that KyTyPS5 is moving beyond basic booting and into more meaningful 3D rendering, giving the PS5 emulation scene an increasingly capable technical foundation.
