Goodwill Shopper Finds Working GeForce GTX 1050 Ti for Just $2

A PC builder has reportedly found a working ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card at a local Goodwill store for only $2.

The buyer spotted the used card while an employee was placing it on the shelf and purchased it immediately. After taking it home, he installed it in a desktop PC and confirmed that the GPU was functional.

Testing showed that the GTX 1050 Ti could still run Cyberpunk 2077 at close to 30 frames per second at 1080p when AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1 was set to Balanced. That result does not make the card suitable for demanding modern gaming at high settings, but it remains useful for older games, esports titles, troubleshooting, and very low cost PC builds.

For $2, the purchase represents exceptional value even though the GPU is nearly a decade old.

GTX 1050 Ti Still Handles Lighter Games

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti launched in 2016 as an affordable graphics card based on NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture.

The ASUS model found at Goodwill includes 4GB of graphics memory. That capacity is limited by modern standards, but it is enough for many older PC games and competitive titles when graphics settings are adjusted.

The reported Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark showed an average of 30.83 FPS. The test system used an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor and Windows 11 Home.

The game was reportedly using a Steam Deck style graphics preset alongside Balanced upscaling. This reduces the internal rendering resolution before reconstructing the image to 1080p.

The result is playable for someone comfortable with a 30 FPS target, although image quality and frame consistency are likely to be below what a modern graphics card can provide.

Older and Competitive Games Are a Better Match

The GTX 1050 Ti is better suited to less demanding games than recent releases such as Cyberpunk 2077.

Titles including Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Dota 2, Minecraft, and many older single player games should run more comfortably. Depending on the game and settings, frame rates around or above 60 FPS may be possible.
