HoYoverse has officially confirmed the details of Genshin Impact Version 6.3 following its latest developer livestream. The update arrives in mid-January and delivers new playable characters, a significant map expansion, story progression, and the return of the Lantern Rite event.
Version 6.3 marks one of the most substantial updates for Genshin Impact this year, closing key story threads while introducing new gameplay mechanics tied to Lunar reactions and Nod-Krai exploration.
New Characters Coming In Genshin Impact Version 6.3
Three new characters will join the roster in Version 6.3, expanding team-building options and introducing fresh Lunar-based combat strategies.
Columbina debuts as a 5-Star Hydro Catalyst character designed to enhance Lunar reaction teams. Her kit focuses on off-field Hydro damage and interaction with multiple Lunar reactions, making her a flexible support option.
Zibai arrives as a 5-Star Geo Sword character positioned as a Lunar Crystallize-focused main DPS. Her design emphasizes sustained damage and synergy with Hydro-based teammates.
Illuga rounds out the lineup as a 4-Star Geo Polearm character. He fills a support role, boosting team performance and enabling more consistent Lunar Crystallize reactions.
Banner Schedule And Character Availability
HoYoverse confirmed that Columbina will headline the first phase of Version 6.3 banners, while Zibai will lead the second phase. Illuga will be available alongside Zibai, giving players multiple opportunities to build Lunar-focused teams.
Lantern Rite Returns As A Permanent Story Event
The Lantern Rite event returns in Version 6.3 with a new permanent storyline tied to Zibai. Players can expect event activities, story quests, and limited-time rewards, including a free Liyue 4-Star character selection.
The update also introduces new cosmetic rewards, including discounted character outfits and free Traveler skins unlocked through story progression.
New Map Expansion Opens Northern Nod-Krai
Version 6.3 expands the Nod-Krai region with a new northern island area. Players will explore the Lightkeeper city of Piramida and the mysterious Lake Amsvartnir, a location rumored to connect to ancient Seelie lore.
The new zone introduces fresh exploration challenges, story encounters, and sets the stage for future character releases tied to the Knights of Favonius.
Release Date And Update Timing
Genshin Impact Version 6.3 is scheduled to launch on January 14. The Lantern Rite event will follow later in the update cycle, giving players several weeks of new content and limited-time activities.
What’s Next For Genshin Impact
HoYoverse also teased several upcoming characters expected to arrive later in the year, including future additions tied to Nod-Krai and beyond. With Version 6.3 closing major narrative arcs and expanding core systems, it sets the foundation for the next phase of Genshin Impact’s ongoing storyline.
