Endless Legend 2 Leaves Early Access on September 17 With New Factions and Content

Endless Legend 2 will leave early access and reach version 1.0 on September 17, 2026, for PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Amplitude Studios is using the full launch to add a new major faction, two Rogue Factions, and another community developed minor faction. The update will also build on nearly a year of early access work that introduced multiplayer, faction revisions, and changes to the quest system.

The most important addition is the Sandshapers, the fifth major playable faction in the world of Saiadha. This ancient civilization wants to transform the planet back into the desert environment that existed before rising water changed the world.

Like the other major factions, the Sandshapers will have their own story, units, heroes, technologies, and gameplay traits. Some of those traits will also become available through the Custom Faction creator.

Version 1.0 adds the Sandshapers

The Sandshapers are described as the oldest civilization on Saiadha. They remember a time before much of the planet was covered by water and see restoring its former desert landscape as a sacred responsibility.

That goal should shape both their story and their strategy.

The announcement does not explain exactly how their terraforming mechanics will work. However, their identity suggests that they may interact with terrain, climate, or regional transformation in ways that differ from the existing factions.

A strong environmental mechanic would fit Endless Legend 2, which already places unusual geography and world conditions at the centre of its strategy.

Two Rogue Factions offer alternate versions of existing civilizations

The Order of Zelevas and the Severed Claw will arrive as Rogue Factions.

This is a new type of civilization that reinterprets an existing group rather than functioning as a completely separate major faction. These splinter factions will share parts of their original design while adding their own stories, quests, and strategic differences.

Rogue FactionWhat to expect
Order of ZelevasAlternate version of an existing civilization
Severed ClawSeparate splinter group with its own identity
Shared elementsSome mechanics and themes from parent factions
Unique additionsNew quests, stories, and gameplay changes

This structure gives Amplitude a way to expand faction variety without creating every element from the beginning.

It may also support players who already understand one faction but want a different strategic approach. A Rogue Faction could preserve familiar foundations while changing progression, diplomacy, military strengths, or economic priorities.

The announcement does not identify which existing civilizations these two groups are connected to.

Mangrove of Harmony joins as a new minor faction

The Mangrove of Harmony will be added as a new minor faction developed with input from the Amplitude community.

It is described as a starfish like civilization with its own villages, population type, recruitable units, hero, questline, and special hero skills.

Minor factions can influence expansion and diplomacy even when they are not controlled like full civilizations.

Their units and population bonuses may provide useful advantages when integrated into an empire. A distinctive questline also gives players another reason to explore and interact with the world rather than treating every minor group as a simple resource.

Early access added multiplayer and major reworks

Endless Legend 2 entered early access in September 2025.

Since then, Amplitude Studios has introduced cooperative multiplayer, competitive multiplayer, faction reworks, and an overhauled questing system.

The early access release was already considered a deep and visually impressive 4X game, though some systems still needed refinement.

The full launch gives Amplitude a chance to bring those systems together in a more complete package. Multiplayer support is particularly important because it expands the game beyond solo campaigns and allows players to test faction strategies against human opponents.

The 1.0 launch strengthens faction variety

Endless Legend 2 is built around asymmetric civilizations, meaning each major faction approaches expansion, combat, resources, and world interaction differently.

Adding the Sandshapers increases the number of full playable options, while the two Rogue Factions create variations within the existing roster.

This combination may offer more variety than adding only one traditional faction.

New additionStrategic value
SandshapersEntirely new major faction
Order of ZelevasAlternate rules and story
Severed ClawAnother faction variation
Mangrove of HarmonyNew minor faction rewards
Custom traitsMore player created faction options

The Custom Faction creator should also benefit from the new traits. Players may be able to combine Sandshaper abilities with other bonuses to create specialised civilizations.

Amplitude has not yet detailed any restrictions on these combinations.

Saiadha remains central to the game’s identity

Endless Legend 2 takes place on Saiadha, a world shaped by environmental change and rising water.

The Sandshapers add another perspective on that setting because they remember the planet before its transformation. Their desire to restore the desert may place them in conflict with civilizations that have adapted to the current environment.

This gives their goals a stronger narrative purpose than simple territorial expansion.

Their faction quest may also reveal more about Saiadha’s history and the forces that changed it.

Full launch arrives after almost one year of testing

The September 17 release places version 1.0 almost exactly one year after the early access debut.

That period gave the developers time to gather feedback, revise factions, improve quests, and test multiplayer. The final result will depend on whether the full release resolves the remaining balance, interface, and technical issues.

Amplitude Studios has not announced whether version 1.0 will include a price change or a separate launch edition.

Endless Legend 2 will leave early access on September 17, 2026, through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Sandshapers, two Rogue Factions, and the Mangrove of Harmony will expand its roster while preserving the asymmetric strategy that defines the series.
