Remedy Entertainment has announced that CONTROL Resonant has sold more than one million copies, making it the fastest selling game in the Finnish developer's history.
The milestone was reached by October 15, 2026, and contributed significantly to Remedy's latest financial results, with quarterly revenue more than tripling compared with the same period last year.
Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the achievement as a defining moment for the studio, particularly because CONTROL Resonant is its first independently published game of this scale.
The company now plans to expand the game's audience and build on its early commercial success.
CONTROL Resonant Attracts Strong Reviews and New Players
CONTROL Resonant has received positive feedback across several platforms, with players and critics responding favorably to its gameplay and technical performance.
The game currently holds a Metacritic critic score of 83 and a player score of 8.8.
Its reception is similarly positive on Steam and PlayStation 5.
| Platform | Reported rating |
|---|---|
| Metacritic critics | 83/100 |
| Metacritic players | 8.8/10 |
| Steam | 91% positive |
| PlayStation 5 | 4.7/5 |
Gaudechon also revealed that the United States accounted for nearly half of the game's total sales.
Interestingly, approximately 50% of players who purchased CONTROL Resonant had not bought the original Control.
This suggests that the sequel has attracted a substantial audience beyond the franchise's existing customers.
Remedy Credits Northlight Engine for Technical Performance
The company highlighted the performance and scalability of CONTROL Resonant across different PC hardware configurations.
According to Gaudechon, the studio's proprietary Northlight engine helped deliver the game's visual presentation while supporting a broad range of systems.

CONTROL Resonant also introduced significant changes compared with its predecessor, including a different protagonist, expanded environments and a stronger focus on action RPG mechanics.
These changes represented an ambitious direction for Remedy, which has traditionally focused on narrative driven action games.
Although some reviews identified limitations in the game's open world design, the overall reception has been favorable.
Remedy Plans to Expand CONTROL Resonant Sales
Following the initial sales milestone, Remedy is focusing on reaching additional players.
The company has not detailed its next marketing strategy, although future promotional campaigns and discounts could help maintain interest.
There has also been no official announcement regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
For Remedy, the commercial performance of CONTROL Resonant demonstrates the potential of releasing large projects under its own publishing operation.
With more than one million copies sold and strong early feedback, the studio now has an opportunity to expand the franchise while maintaining momentum from its successful launch.
