Control Resonant Adds New Game++ in October and Photo Mode in November

Remedy Entertainment has outlined its first post launch updates for Control Resonant, with New Game++ arriving in October and Photo Mode following in November.

The game already includes a standard New Game+ option, but New Game++ is designed to let you continue starting additional runs without a fixed limit. Remedy says you can keep repeating the campaign as many times as you want, while carrying forward more of your progression.

Photo Mode will arrive one month later, after being held back from launch so the development team could focus on getting the base game into shape.

New Game++ allows repeated campaign runs

Control Resonant already supports New Game+, but the upcoming New Game++ system expands that idea by allowing continuous playthroughs.

Remedy describes it as a way to keep starting fresh runs while retaining progression from previous ones.

The studio has even suggested that you could complete hundreds of runs if you wanted to.

Some progression rules will still remain in place.

Traversal abilities will need to be unlocked again during each run, rather than being available immediately from the beginning.

The system should still give you more freedom to experiment with different abilities and combinations across repeated playthroughs.

One possible benefit is the ability to unlock additional powers from the same Resonant and then use them together in a single build.

Remedy has not yet explained exactly how enemy difficulty or other systems will scale across repeated New Game++ runs.

Photo Mode arrives in November

Photo Mode is scheduled for November.

Remedy says the feature has been in development for some time and that the team consulted virtual photographers from the community while building it.

The goal is to make the mode flexible enough for players who enjoy capturing detailed screenshots and cinematic scenes.

The studio said Photo Mode was not ready for launch because development resources were focused on ensuring the game itself was in the best possible condition.

No full feature list has been provided yet, so details such as camera controls, filters, depth of field options, lighting adjustments, and character posing remain unconfirmed.

More Dylan cosmetics are also planned

Remedy also plans to add additional cosmetic options for Dylan in future updates.

Unlike New Game++ and Photo Mode, these cosmetics do not currently have a release window.

The studio has not revealed how many outfits or customization items are planned, or whether they will be earned through gameplay or added in another way.

More details are expected closer to their release.

Control Resonant has started with positive reviews

Control Resonant launched on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Early user reception has been positive.

At the time of the report, the game held a Very Positive rating on Steam based on 1,787 reviews, with 87 percent of players recommending it.

It also had an 83 Metascore based on 71 critic reviews, placing it in the Generally Favorable category.

Those numbers suggest the game has had a solid start, while the planned post launch updates give existing players reasons to return after completing the campaign.

Remedy is focusing on replayability first

The first two updates show a clear emphasis on replayability and player expression.

New Game++ is aimed at players who want to continue experimenting with builds and repeated campaign runs, while Photo Mode gives the community a way to capture the game's environments and action more creatively.

Exact release dates have not yet been announced.

For now, New Game++ is expected sometime in October, with Photo Mode following in November and additional Dylan cosmetics planned for later updates.
