ASUS has unveiled a new version of its TUF Gaming A14 laptop, pairing the compact 14-inch form factor with AMD’s upcoming Strix Halo processor. The announcement came during CES 2026, where ASUS positioned the system as a value-focused gaming option that does not rely on a dedicated graphics card.
The refreshed TUF Gaming A14 uses AMD’s Ryzen AI Max Plus 392, part of the Strix Halo family. The chip combines high core counts with Radeon 8060S integrated graphics, which feature 40 compute units. ASUS says this approach delivers gaming performance that approaches entry-level discrete GPUs while keeping cost, size, and power consumption in check.
Integrated graphics take center stage
Unlike many gaming laptops in the TUF lineup, this A14 configuration skips a separate NVIDIA or AMD GPU entirely. ASUS instead leans on Strix Halo’s integrated graphics, which target smooth 1080p and even 1440p gaming in popular titles. This strategy allows the laptop to remain thinner and lighter than most gaming systems, while still appealing to budget-conscious players.
The laptop sports a 14-inch display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. ASUS aims the panel at competitive gamers who value higher refresh rates without jumping to a larger chassis. Memory options go up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and storage includes dual M.2 SSD slots, which remain uncommon in compact gaming notebooks.
Power, cooling, and battery focus
ASUS also emphasized cooling and sustained performance. The company redesigned the thermal solution to handle higher power limits on the APU, helping the Strix Halo chip maintain consistent clock speeds during longer gaming sessions. Despite the compact size, the laptop includes a 73 Wh battery and supports 100 W USB-C charging.
This balance between portability and performance forms the core of ASUS’s pitch. The TUF Gaming A14 targets users who want a single device for gaming, school, and creative work without paying for a bulky system.
Not the only option in the lineup
ASUS confirmed that the Strix Halo model will sit alongside a more traditional configuration. Another TUF Gaming A14 variant uses an AMD Gorgon Point processor paired with a dedicated NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU. That option targets buyers who still prefer discrete graphics at a lower price point.
While ASUS has not shared final pricing or availability details, the Strix Halo-powered A14 highlights a broader industry trend. Laptop makers increasingly trust powerful integrated graphics to close the gap with entry-level GPUs. If pricing lands aggressively, the TUF Gaming A14 could reshape expectations for what a budget gaming laptop can deliver in 2026.
