Acer's Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld has appeared in early performance tests, delivering more than 70 FPS in Forza Horizon 6 while running on Intel's Arc G3 Extreme processor.
The handheld recently launched in the United States for $1,299.99, making it $500 cheaper than MSI's Claw 8 EX AI+, which uses the same processor.
Although its pricing and specifications were previously revealed, new hands-on testing provides a clearer picture of its gaming capabilities, power consumption, and controls.
The device is currently sold out at Best Buy, with additional availability expected on November 1, 2026.
Predator Atlas 8 Gaming Benchmarks Show Strong Arc G3 Extreme Performance
Early testing by hardware reviewer ETA PRIME shows the Predator Atlas 8 achieving respectable results in synthetic benchmarks and demanding games.
The handheld recorded 6,607 points in 3DMark Time Spy and 1,267 points in Steel Nomad.
In Forza Horizon 6, the device reportedly exceeded 70 FPS at 1920 × 1200 resolution using medium graphics settings without upscaling.
This result was achieved with a manually configured 30W power limit.
The reviewer also demonstrated Intel XeSS frame generation in Crimson Desert and Gears of War: E-Day.
| Benchmark or game | Reported result |
|---|---|
| 3DMark Time Spy | 6,607 points |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad | 1,267 points |
| Forza Horizon 6 | Over 70 FPS |
| Forza Horizon 6 settings | 1200p, medium, 30W |
These results come from preliminary testing, and broader performance comparisons remain necessary.
Acer Handheld Shows Power Management and Control Issues
The Predator Atlas 8 features an 8-inch 120Hz IPS display with variable refresh rate support.
Other hardware includes 24GB LPDDR5X memory, a 512GB replaceable SSD, an 80Wh battery, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

During testing, the reviewer praised its ergonomics but reported difficulty using the directional pad in Street Fighter 6.
Another observation involved Acer's 35W Turbo mode, which occasionally reduced power consumption to approximately 25W.
Manual power settings reportedly allowed higher consumption levels.
Battery Life Testing Is Still Pending
The Predator Atlas 8 weighs approximately 810 grams and includes TMR analog sticks, Hall-effect triggers, Wi-Fi 7, and Windows 11.
Compared with MSI's $1,799 alternative, Acer provides 8GB less memory and half the storage.
However, both handhelds feature Intel's Arc G3 Extreme platform.
The initial benchmarks suggest promising gaming performance, although battery endurance, sustained power behavior, and cooling performance still require further evaluation.
