Wooting 80HE+ Adds New Switches, Split Spacebar and Rotary Knob

Wooting is preparing an updated version of its 80HE gaming keyboard, with the new Wooting 80HE+ adding revised switches, a rotary control, a new internal plate and an optional split spacebar system.

Preorders for the Wooting 80HE+ are scheduled to open on September 17, 2026. The company has not yet announced an exact final price, but says preassembled versions will cost almost the same as the existing 80HE, which currently sells for around $200.

The new model keeps the Hall effect technology that defines the 80HE range, including adjustable actuation and rapid trigger support. Most of the changes instead focus on typing feel, physical controls and layout flexibility.

Wooting 80HE+ key upgrades

One of the most important changes is the move to Lekker Tikken switches, the same switch design used in the Wooting 60HE V2.

These replace the Lekker60 V2 switches found in the original 80HE. The newer switches are designed to feel more stable and produce a more refined typing sound. Wooting is also pairing them with an FR4 plate inside the keyboard, another change intended to alter the feel and acoustics of the board.

A rotary knob is finally part of the design

The 80HE+ also adds a large rotary knob, giving you a dedicated physical control that was missing from the original model.

Wooting has not detailed every function the knob can perform, but rotary controls on gaming keyboards are commonly used for volume and other configurable actions. Given the company's existing focus on extensive keyboard customization, the addition should provide another physical input option alongside its software based controls.

Another new feature is an optional split spacebar module. Instead of using one full width spacebar, the module divides that area into three separate keys.

That can give you additional programmable inputs without significantly increasing the overall footprint of the keyboard. It may be particularly useful for players who want extra commands within easy reach of their thumbs.

Core Hall effect features remain

The 80HE+ continues to use magnetic Hall effect switches, allowing you to customize the actuation point of individual keys rather than relying on a fixed mechanical switch position.

Rapid trigger also remains part of the package. The feature allows keys to reset based on movement rather than requiring them to return to a fixed reset point, which can help with repeated directional inputs in competitive games.

Wooting has not presented the 80HE+ as a completely new keyboard platform. Instead, it appears to be a refined version of the existing 80HE, with improvements aimed at typing feel, controls and customization.

With preorders opening on September 17, the remaining details to watch are the exact price, shipping schedule and whether every configuration will support the new split spacebar module from launch.
