Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered a packed showcase with major announcements, returning franchises, new projects, expansions, and release updates across PC and consoles. With E3 now gone, Geoff Keighley’s annual event has become the main summer stage for game publishers, and this year’s lineup leaned heavily on recognizable names while still leaving room for fresh ideas.
The biggest reveal was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in Square Enix’s Remake trilogy. The game is launching in spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2. This final chapter will open up the world through the Highwind airship, giving players much more freedom to explore with the full party.
Capcom also brought a major announcement with Resident Evil Veronica. The remake drops “Code” from the title and modernizes the classic survival horror entry that first launched on Dreamcast. Claire Redfield returns with an updated design, and the game is planned for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Several major franchises returned with new games and long awaited updates
Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced, giving fans a sequel to one of the most respected horror games of the last decade. The new entry is expected to build on the tense atmosphere of the original and will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Studio MDHR also returned with Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a new entry in the run and gun series. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin also appeared, with PlatinumGames developing an action focused title based on the popular graphic novel.
Among the more surprising returns was The Wolf Among Us 2, which resurfaced after years of silence. The game now has a 2027 release window, while a remaster of the original is planned for this year.

New projects gave the showcase more variety beyond sequels
Summer Game Fest 2026 was not only about established franchises. Gen Atlas, formerly known as Project Robot, was shown as the next single player game from the creator of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The game puts players in control of massive robots used to revive a stalled terraforming project.

Blood Message also appeared as a cinematic, single player linear action adventure game from 24 Entertainment Lin’an Studio. Its release platforms and launch window have not been announced yet. Another new reveal, An Eggstremely Hard Game, takes a lighter approach with physics based co op gameplay where ducks try to carry a fragile egg. It launches on July 24, 2026 for PC.
There were also several licensed and genre specific announcements. Gundam Rogue Orbit will bring high mobility mech action in 2027. SAW: Genesis is a 3v1 survival horror prequel headed to Early Access later this year. Star Wars: Zero Company showed its first gameplay trailer and confirmed an August 27 launch, with Anakin Skywalker also appearing in the tactical turn based game.
Expansions, DLC, and live game updates rounded out the event
The showcase also included major updates for existing games. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was revealed as a large 2027 expansion with new mechanics, locations, and monsters, including Kushala Daora. Street Fighter 6 Year 4 will add Yasmine, Arjun, Bosch, and Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa Lockhart.
Mafia: The Old Country is getting the Man of Honor expansion on August 14, 2026, adding two story chapters about Don Salieri’s early years. RuneScape: Dragonwilds will reach version 1.0 with the Scorned Wilderness update on September 15, 2026. Palworld also confirmed its full 1.0 release for July 10 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Summer Game Fest 2026 was a broad show, but its strongest moments came from familiar franchises with clear release plans. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Resident Evil Veronica, Alien: Isolation 2, Control Resonant, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and The Wolf Among Us 2 gave the event enough weight to feel important for the next two years of gaming.
