Shift Up says development on the next Stellar Blade game is progressing smoothly, and fans should hear more about it before the end of 2026.
The update came from the company’s latest financial report, where Shift Up answered questions about its plans for Stellar Blade 2 and its next major project, Project Spirits.
Stellar Blade became one of 2024’s standout action games, so a sequel was not surprising. Shift Up confirmed the follow up less than a year after the first game launched, though the company has not shared many details yet. For now, it is still being referred to as the next Stellar Blade title or Stellar Blade 2.
The important part is that development appears to be on track. Shift Up said the game is progressing smoothly and is being built to meet the studio’s target quality standards.
The sequel is also expected to launch on multiple platforms. That could be a major change from the first game’s original PlayStation focused release strategy, and it fits with Shift Up’s wider plan to grow as a publisher.
The company also confirmed that it plans to publish Stellar Blade 2 itself. Shift Up described the sequel as part of its move toward a first party service model, supported by its own publishing capabilities, a strategy to maximize sales, and the existing Stellar Blade fanbase.
Here is the current picture:
| Project | Status |
|---|---|
| Stellar Blade 2 | Development progressing smoothly |
| Platforms | Expected to be multiplatform |
| Publisher | Shift Up plans to self publish |
| More details | Coming within 2026 |
| Project Spirits | Also progressing well |
| Project Spirits publisher | Tencent |
Shift Up is not self publishing everything, though. Its other major upcoming game, Project Spirits, is being published by Tencent. The studio says that project is also progressing well, with controlled costs and a structured development process.

More information on Project Spirits is also expected sometime this year. That could include its official title, gameplay details, or a clearer look at what Shift Up and Tencent are building together.
Stellar Blade’s success gives Shift Up a stronger foundation for the sequel. The first game was praised for its action RPG design, combat, and strong visual identity. The next challenge is showing how the sequel can build on that without simply repeating the same formula.
The timing is also interesting because Summer Game Fest 2026 is close. Shift Up has not confirmed that Stellar Blade 2 will appear there, but the company’s promise of more details within the year means fans may not have to wait much longer.
For now, the message is simple. Stellar Blade 2 is still moving forward, Shift Up is taking more control of its publishing future, and both Stellar Blade 2 and Project Spirits are expected to get new updates before 2026 ends.
