Slay the Spire 2 takes the top spot

Slay the Spire 2 led the entire September list.

It finished ahead of several games that have remained popular on Steam Deck for a long time, including Stardew Valley, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and Baldur's Gate 3.

Stardew Valley claimed second place, while The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth followed in third.

Fields of Mistria also made a strong return, reaching fourth place.

Its position is particularly notable because it finished above several much larger games, including Valheim, Palworld, Baldur's Gate 3, and The Witcher 3 Remastered.

Valheim climbs after reaching version 1.0

Valheim finished fifth for the month.

Its appearance in the top five comes after the game recently reached version 1.0, which likely helped bring players back.

Palworld followed in sixth, while Baldur's Gate 3 took seventh.

Both games have maintained strong visibility on Steam Deck, making their continued presence near the top of the list less surprising.

The Witcher 3 Remastered reaches eighth place

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered landed at number eight.

Its position follows the release of the Remastered update, which introduced major changes to the game and gave existing players another reason to return.

No Man's Sky came in ninth, while Diablo 4 completed the top 10.

This gives the first half of the list a broad mix of card games, farming sims, survival games, RPGs, and action titles.

Familiar Steam Deck favorites remain strong

Balatro finished in 11th place, followed by Elden Ring at 12.

Vampire Survivors took 13th, while Cyberpunk 2077 placed 14th.

Brotato followed at 15th.

These games have all become familiar names on Steam Deck charts, helped by their strong compatibility with handheld play and, in several cases, shorter gameplay sessions that fit portable gaming well.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also remained in the top 20 at number 16.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition followed at 17, showing that older large scale RPGs still have a significant audience on the handheld.

Graveyard Keeper 2 makes an unexpected appearance

One of the more surprising entries is Graveyard Keeper 2.

The game reached 18th place, putting it ahead of Hades 2 and Megabonk.

Hades 2 finished 19th, while Megabonk closed out the list at number 20.

The presence of Graveyard Keeper 2 stands out because it managed to break into a ranking dominated by either very established games or major recent releases.

September’s list mixes old favorites with newer releases

The September 2026 ranking shows how varied Steam Deck usage has become.

Long running games such as Stardew Valley, Skyrim, and The Binding of Isaac continue to sit alongside newer releases such as Slay the Spire 2, Graveyard Keeper 2, and The Witcher 3 Remastered.

The list also shows that large open world games and RPGs remain popular despite the handheld format.

For September, however, Slay the Spire 2 came out on top, beating both established Steam Deck favorites and some of the biggest games currently available on the platform.
