Shift At Midnight will launch on Xbox consoles and PC on July 22, 2026, bringing its co-op horror gameplay to a wider audience after first gaining attention on Steam.
The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere. This means a single digital purchase can provide access on both Xbox and Windows PC, with connected saves and achievements across supported devices.
Shift At Midnight was originally planned as a PC release, but the developer later confirmed an Xbox version alongside the Steam edition. Crossplay between Xbox and PC will also be supported, allowing friends on different platforms to play together.
The game can be played alone or with up to three people in online co-op. Each session places the group inside a remote gas station during the night, where ordinary work slowly turns into a fight for survival.
Players must identify monsters hiding among regular customers
At the start of a shift, players perform basic gas station duties. These include checking inventory, cleaning the store, serving customers, and keeping the business running.
The danger comes from customers who may be demonic creatures using stolen identities. Players must study their documents, behaviour, and other details before deciding whether they are human.
A correct decision allows an innocent customer to leave safely. A mistake can put the entire group at risk. Suspected monsters can be confronted with weapons stored inside the station.

As each shift continues, the creatures become more aggressive. Some stop pretending to be human and directly attack the building.
Players must then barricade entrances, place traps, manage ammunition, and use firearms to defend the station. Running and hiding are also valid options when a creature is too powerful or when resources are limited.
Closets, vents, and other parts of the environment can provide temporary safety. However, relying on one method will not always work because enemy behaviour and available resources can change between sessions.
Randomly generated shifts are designed to prevent predictable strategies
Each night is generated with different conditions, which means players cannot depend on the same solution every time.
Customer behaviour, monster attacks, available resources, and other events may change. This creates pressure to adapt rather than memorize a fixed sequence.

The launch version will include a Story Mode made up of thirteen nights. The campaign will also feature multiple endings, giving players a reason to replay it and make different choices.
Completing Story Mode will unlock Endless Mode. This mode removes the fixed campaign structure and challenges players to survive for as long as possible as conditions become increasingly difficult.
Shift At Midnight has already attracted attention during development through early demos and online videos. Its combination of customer inspection, workplace management, and survival horror helped it stand out from other co-op games.
The basic structure has similarities to games where players inspect documents and identify suspicious people, but Shift At Midnight adds direct combat, exploration, traps, and defensive preparation.
Shift At Midnight will release on July 22, 2026, for Xbox and PC. It will launch through Xbox Game Pass and include Xbox Play Anywhere and crossplay support.
