Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Buds On, its first open ear clip on earbuds designed to sit around the outer ear without blocking the ear canal.
The new model uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 audio platform, supports Bluetooth 5.4, and offers up to 9.5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
Samsung is launching the earbuds first in South Korea on October 27 for 299,000 KRW, which works out to roughly $220. A wider global rollout is planned to follow.

Clip on design keeps the ear canal open
The Galaxy Buds On use a clip on form factor that attaches around the outer part of the ear rather than sitting inside the ear canal.
Samsung says it studied ear geometry data to improve comfort, stability, and pressure distribution.
The company has also adjusted the placement of the speaker and battery to help keep the earbuds balanced during movement.
This design is aimed at people who want to remain aware of their surroundings while listening to music or taking calls.
That makes the earbuds suitable for situations such as commuting, working in an office, or exercising.
TwinBoost speakers are designed to improve bass
Open ear earbuds usually struggle to deliver the same bass response and isolation as conventional in ear models because the speaker is not sealed inside the ear canal.
Samsung says it is addressing that limitation with custom TwinBoost speakers.
The company claims the design can deliver stronger low frequency output while retaining the benefits of an open fit.
The earbuds also include automatic volume control that adjusts playback depending on surrounding noise levels.
Another new feature is Audio Leakage Reduction.
Samsung says this is intended to reduce the amount of sound that escapes from the earbuds, which could make them easier to use in quiet public spaces without disturbing people nearby.
Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 handles audio processing
The Galaxy Buds On run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 sound platform.
The chipset is paired with a Class D amplifier and supports Bluetooth 5.4.
Samsung says the power efficient design allows the earbuds to deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
The supplied material does not provide total battery life when the charging case is included.
Three microphones support clearer calls
Samsung has equipped each setup with three integrated microphones.
Voice pickup also uses a bone conducting Voice Pickup Unit sensor that detects vibrations from the wearer’s voice.

Machine learning noise suppression is then used to separate speech from wind and background noise.
This combination is intended to improve call clarity when the earbuds are being used outdoors or in noisy environments.
Galaxy ecosystem features include Gemini Live
The earbuds also integrate with Samsung’s wider Galaxy ecosystem.
When paired with a compatible Galaxy smartphone or tablet, you can activate Gemini Live using a voice command.
Samsung says this allows you to hold conversations with the assistant, manage notifications, and use other voice based features without reaching for your phone.
Quick Voice Memos can also be launched with a long press on the earbuds.
Head gestures can control calls and alarms
Galaxy Buds On support head gesture controls as well.
You can accept or reject incoming calls using a nod or shake of the head.
The same gesture controls can also be used to dismiss alarms.
This gives the earbuds another hands free control option in addition to touch input and voice commands.
South Korea gets the first launch
Samsung will release the Galaxy Buds On in South Korea on October 27.
The first version will be available only in black.
Pricing is set at 299,000 KRW, which is roughly $220.
Samsung says additional global markets will follow, but the supplied material does not provide specific launch dates or prices for regions outside South Korea.
The Galaxy Buds On give Samsung a direct entry into the growing open ear clip on category, with Snapdragon processing, AI integration, long single charge battery life, and a design focused on comfort and environmental awareness rather than full isolation.
