So this is relief from inflated SSD pricing rather than a bargain by historical standards. The $90.55 cut takes back most of a $140 climb, but not all of it.
The listing covers model MZ-VAP1T0B/AM, the bare 1TB M.2 2280 drive without a heatsink. It pairs a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface with Samsung V-NAND TLC flash and 1GB of LPDDR4X cache, which matters for anyone building a Gen5 system that can actually feed it.
How the Samsung 9100 PRO price got here
Samsung announced the 9100 PRO on March 18, 2025, and its newsroom listed the 1TB model at an MSRP of $199.99. The company's own store now lists that same SKU at $339.99, a 70% increase.
Samsung's pages do not explain the rise. Digital Citizen tracked an earlier dip in its June 2026 roundup of 9100 PRO deals, and the drive has since drifted back up.
At $249.44, Amazon is $49.45 above launch MSRP. That gap is the number buyers should weigh, not the 27% badge on the listing.

Samsung says the 5nm controller is up to 49% more power efficient than the one in the 990 PRO. The datasheet lists client PCs and the PlayStation 5 as intended uses.
One discrepancy is worth noting. Samsung's product page for the heatsink version quotes 14,800/13,400 MB/s, while the datasheet assigns those numbers to the 4TB and 8TB models.
Heatsink or bare drive
The heatsink model, SKU MZ-VAP1T0CW, launched at $219.99, or $20 more than the bare drive. Samsung's store now lists it at $359.99, still $20 above its own price for the bare version.
That makes the Amazon deal $110.55 cheaper than Samsung's heatsink listing. The Digital Citizen review of the Samsung 9100 PRO found it fast and reliable but hot, so a motherboard M.2 cooler is the sensible pairing for the bare drive.

The Samsung 990 2TB now sits at $369.99, above the price Digital Citizen covered when the Samsung 990 2TB dropped to $339.99 in August. The 990 PRO 2TB is $389.99, down 39% from its $639.99 list price.

Who should buy the 9100 PRO at $249.44
The deal makes sense for a PCIe 5.0 desktop build where 1TB is enough and sequential speed matters. Buyers who need capacity get twice the space from any 2TB Gen4 drive above for $80 to $141 more.
Amazon does not publish an end date for the discount, and Samsung has not said whether its store price will move back toward launch MSRP. Prices were checked on September 19, 2026, and can change at any time.
