Razer has introduced the Huntsman V3 HE keyboard series, replacing the analog optical switches used in earlier Huntsman models with Hall effect magnetic switches.
The new range targets competitive players who want adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, and other magnetic keyboard features without paying the premium attached to many high end models. Pricing starts at $119.99 for the compact 65 percent version, while the tenkeyless model costs $139.99.
Those prices place the Huntsman V3 HE below much of the current magnetic gaming keyboard market, where models from major brands often cost between $150 and $250. Some premium options have moved far beyond that range.
Razer is offering two sizes at launch. The Huntsman V3 HE 65% removes the function row and number pad to save desk space, while the Huntsman V3 HE TKL keeps the function keys and navigation cluster.
Hall Effect Switches Support Adjustable Actuation
Hall effect keyboards use magnetic sensors to measure how far each key has been pressed. Unlike a conventional mechanical switch, the activation point does not need to remain fixed.
Players can configure the Huntsman V3 HE switches between 0.1mm and 4mm of travel. A shallow setting can register inputs quickly, while a deeper setting may reduce accidental presses during typing or slower paced games.
Rapid Trigger is also included. This feature resets a key as soon as it begins moving upward rather than waiting for it to pass a fixed reset point. It can make repeated movement inputs feel more responsive in competitive games.

The keyboards support Snap Tap, which manages opposing directional inputs. This feature is commonly associated with movement keys such as A and D, where pressing both at once can create unclear or delayed input behaviour.
Razer has also added a Dual Keypress system that gives directional priority more quickly. The practical benefit will depend on the game and how each feature is configured.
One Key Can Perform Several Actions
The Huntsman V3 HE includes several systems for assigning more than one function to a single key.
Snap Flex allows two inputs to be attached to one key. Dynamic Keystroke expands this to four possible actions based on how deeply the key is pressed.

For example, a light press could make a character walk, while a deeper press could trigger a run or another command. This approach can reduce the number of separate keys needed for complex controls.
Razer has also introduced Instant Cancel Control. This allows a programmed sequence of depth based actions to stop immediately rather than continuing after the player changes direction or releases the key.
These features provide more customization than a conventional keyboard, although they may require time to configure correctly. Competitive players will also need to check whether particular input systems are permitted in the games and tournaments they use.
Razer Promises Better Sound and Switch Feel
Earlier compact Huntsman models were criticized for noticeable rattle and a hollow sound profile. Razer says it has addressed those concerns with thicker internal foam and individually lubricated switches.
The dampening material should reduce unwanted echo inside the case, while lubrication may improve key movement and reduce scratchiness. Actual sound and feel will depend on the keycaps, chassis construction, stabilizers, and switch implementation.
Razer continues to position its analog optical keyboards as its highest performance esports products. The new Hall effect line appears intended for players who want the common features of a modern magnetic keyboard at a more accessible price.
The Huntsman V3 HE series also includes an 8KHz polling rate. This allows the keyboard to report inputs to the computer up to 8,000 times per second.
A higher polling rate can reduce the delay between a keypress and the signal reaching the system. The improvement over 1,000Hz is small, however, and may be difficult to notice outside competitive play on a high refresh rate display.
The Lower Price Reflects a Changing Keyboard Market
Hall effect technology was once limited to expensive enthusiast and competitive gaming products. It has become more common as additional manufacturers have introduced magnetic switches and the components have become easier to source.
Newer TMR keyboards are also beginning to compete with Hall effect designs. TMR sensors can offer improved power efficiency and precise magnetic detection, although the final typing and gaming experience still depends on the complete keyboard.
Razer’s pricing suggests Hall effect is moving toward the midrange rather than remaining a premium feature. The 65 percent Huntsman costs only $20 more than some entry level compact magnetic keyboards, while the TKL version stays below $150.
The Huntsman V3 HE will compete on more than specifications. Switch consistency, software reliability, stabilizer quality, sound, and the usefulness of its advanced input features will determine whether it offers strong value.
Still, the starting price is notable for a Razer release. The series provides adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, multiple actions per key, 8KHz polling, and internal sound dampening without entering the price range of the most expensive magnetic gaming keyboards.
