Persona 5 Royal returns to Xbox Game Pass with June’s first batch of new games

Persona 5 Royal is coming back to Xbox Game Pass in June, giving subscribers another chance to play one of Atlus’ most popular JRPGs. Microsoft has announced the first batch of Game Pass additions for June 2026, and while the list includes several smaller indie and AA titles, Persona 5 Royal is clearly the biggest name in the lineup.

The game will be available on June 9 across cloud, console, and PC for Xbox Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass subscribers. Its return is notable because Persona 5 Royal was previously available through Game Pass before leaving the service on October 31, 2023.

The timing is interesting as well. Persona 5 Royal is returning just days before the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, which has led to speculation that Atlus may be preparing more Persona news. Persona 4: Revival has already been announced, and fans are waiting for a proper gameplay reveal. There is no confirmation that it will appear at the showcase, but the timing will naturally get people talking.

Persona 5 Royal is the clear highlight of the month

Persona 5 Royal follows the Phantom Thieves, a group of teenagers who use supernatural powers called Personas to enter a strange alternate world and change the hearts of corrupt people. The game mixes turn based battles, dungeon crawling, school life, social bonds, and a stylish anime inspired presentation.

Its return is a strong addition for Game Pass because Persona 5 Royal is a long game with a lot of value. For anyone who skipped it before, this is a good time to start, especially if they enjoy urban fantasy, character driven stories, and JRPG combat with strong style and music.

The rest of the June lineup is smaller but varied. Herdling brings atmospheric adventure, Solarpunk offers a lighter sci fi sandbox experience, Undisputed adds boxing, and Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions arrives as a Game Preview release. Beastro, Frog Sqwad, Total Chaos, and Junkster round out the batch with more niche options.

Microsoft has also confirmed several games leaving Xbox Game Pass on June 15. The list includes Jurassic World Evolution 2, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Warhammer 40K Space Marine: Master Crafted Edition, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

This is not the biggest Game Pass drop of the year, but Persona 5 Royal gives it weight. The service is getting a mix of cozy games, survival ideas, action, sports, and indie experiments, but Atlus’ JRPG is the one most likely to dominate attention.

The larger question is whether Microsoft is saving more Game Pass news for the Xbox Games Showcase. The first June batch feels short, and the timing suggests there could be more announcements soon. Even if that does not happen, Persona 5 Royal’s return gives subscribers a major RPG to play while waiting for whatever Xbox and Atlus reveal next.
