NVIDIA has released the GeForce Hotfix Display Driver 610.82 to address stability and performance problems in Halo: Campaign Evolved and Path of Exile 2.
The update is based on the recently released GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.74. It is a smaller optional release intended for players affected by the two confirmed issues rather than a full driver package with broad game support and new features.
However, the hotfix does not resolve the separate crashing problem reported by some Battlefield 6 players. Anyone experiencing repeated crashes in that game may still need to use an older GeForce driver while the cause is investigated.
Halo Fix Targets GeForce RTX 50 Series Cards
The first fix is intended for Halo: Campaign Evolved players using a GeForce RTX 50 series graphics card.
NVIDIA says the game could experience stability problems when running on drivers from the 610.xx branch. The company has not explained exactly what caused the issue or identified which RTX 50 models were affected.
The 610.82 hotfix is designed to correct that behavior. Players who experienced crashes, freezes, or other stability problems after installing a recent 610 series driver may benefit from the update.
NVIDIA has not said whether the problem affected every RTX 50 series system. Differences in graphics card models, system configurations, game settings, and background software may explain why some players encountered the issue while others did not.
Path of Exile 2 Long Pauses Addressed
The second change focuses on Path of Exile 2 when the game is running in DirectX 12 mode.
Some players could encounter long and unexpected pauses after playing for an extended period. These interruptions were described as intermittent, meaning they did not necessarily occur during every session or at a predictable time.
GeForce 610.82 is intended to remove those pauses and improve stability during longer gameplay sessions.

Hotfix drivers are usually released between major Game Ready updates when NVIDIA has a specific correction ready but does not want to wait for the next full driver package.
They are optional and may not receive the same level of testing as a standard public release. Players who are not affected by the listed problems can remain on their current driver and wait for the fixes to be included in a future Game Ready version.
Battlefield 6 Crashes Remain Under Investigation
The GeForce 610.82 hotfix does not appear to solve crashes reported in Battlefield 6.
The problem has been linked to some maps containing large bodies of water and appears to affect GeForce RTX 50 series systems more frequently. However, the issue is not present on every compatible PC.

It remains unclear whether the cause is located in the game, the GeForce driver, or a combination of both. The Battlefield development team is working with NVIDIA to identify the source of the crashes.
Players who repeatedly encounter the issue are currently advised to roll back to GeForce driver 596.49. Returning to an older driver can restore stability, although it may remove optimizations or fixes introduced in newer releases.
Before rolling back, it is sensible to confirm that Battlefield 6 is the only affected application. A clean driver installation may also help rule out corrupted files or conflicts created during a previous update.
The hotfix therefore has a narrow purpose. It should improve Halo: Campaign Evolved and Path of Exile 2, but Battlefield 6 players should not install it expecting the reported water related crashes to disappear.
NVIDIA will likely include the two confirmed corrections in a future standard driver. Until then, GeForce 610.82 is mainly useful for RTX 50 series owners having trouble with Halo or for Path of Exile 2 players experiencing long pauses in DirectX 12 mode.
