Deadpool has become one of the main talking points from the launch trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, thanks to an introduction that directly recalls one of Dragon Ball FighterZ’s most recognisable tournament moments.
The upcoming tag fighting game is being developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Its experience with fast, highly animated fighting games is visible throughout Marvel Tokon, but Deadpool’s entrance makes the connection especially clear.
During the trailer, Deadpool recreates the dramatic introduction associated with Cell in Dragon Ball FighterZ. The sequence includes a similar pose, camera framing, and burst of golden energy. It appears to be a deliberate reference to the entrance that became popular with fighting game crowds at major tournaments.
