Kingdom Hearts 4 Retail Listings Point to a Possible 2027 Release Window

Kingdom Hearts 4 may be targeting a 2027 release window, according to new retailer listings tied to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Collection. The listings suggest Square Enix could have a major year ahead, with Kingdom Hearts 4 potentially arriving in the same broad period as Final Fantasy VII Revelation.

The latest discussion began after multiple Australian retailers listed the Kingdom Hearts Collection with wording that tells buyers to play through the series before Kingdom Hearts 4 arrives in 2027. Because the same wording appears across several listings, fans are treating it as more than a simple one store mistake.

Square Enix has not officially announced a release date for Kingdom Hearts 4, so the 2027 window should still be treated as unconfirmed. Even so, the timing makes sense. Kingdom Hearts 4 recently returned to public view after years of silence, and the new collection gives players a clear way to catch up before the next main entry.

The bigger question is whether Square Enix is preparing one of its busiest JRPG release years in recent memory.

Kingdom Hearts 4 could be part of Square Enix’s 2027 anniversary push

Kingdom Hearts 4 is now confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2. That alone makes it one of Square Enix’s biggest upcoming releases, since the game will not be limited to one console ecosystem at launch.

A 2027 release would also line up with the 25th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series. The original game launched in 2002, so 2027 would be a natural year for Square Enix to celebrate the franchise with a major new entry.

GameExpected role in 2027
Kingdom Hearts 4Possible 25th anniversary centerpiece
Final Fantasy VII RevelationExpected conclusion to the remake trilogy
Persona 4 RevivalAnother major JRPG return if timing holds
Persona 6Potential genre defining release if it lands in 2027
Xenoblade GenesisAnother possible major RPG release in the same window

The retailer wording does not confirm a specific month or quarter. It only points to the year. But if accurate, it would place Kingdom Hearts 4 close to other major JRPG projects that are already expected or rumored for 2027.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation could make Square Enix’s schedule even bigger

Square Enix is already expected to have a massive 2027 with Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final part of the remake trilogy. That project carries its own anniversary significance, since 2027 marks 30 years since the original Final Fantasy VII launched.

If Kingdom Hearts 4 also arrives in 2027, Square Enix would be managing two of its most important modern franchises in the same year. That would be unusual, but not impossible.

The company may choose to separate the games by several months. Final Fantasy VII Revelation could anchor one part of the year, while Kingdom Hearts 4 could arrive later as the main 25th anniversary release for that franchise. This would allow each game to have its own marketing cycle while still making 2027 a major Square Enix year.

There is also a business reason for this strategy. Both games are launching across multiple current platforms, which gives Square Enix a larger audience from day one. That wider release approach may help justify placing two major titles in the same year.

Retailer listings are useful but not final proof

Retailer listings have a mixed history. Sometimes they reveal real windows early. Other times, they use placeholder dates based on internal expectations, distributor guidance, or marketing text that later changes.

That is why the Kingdom Hearts 4 listing should not be treated as a confirmed release date. The fact that several retailers are using similar language makes it more interesting, but Square Enix still has the final word.

The safest reading is that 2027 is currently a plausible target. It fits the franchise anniversary, the renewed marketing activity, and the timing of the Kingdom Hearts Collection. But delays are always possible, especially for large RPGs with complex production pipelines.

2027 could become a major year for JRPG fans

If the current release windows hold, 2027 could be unusually strong for JRPG fans. Final Fantasy VII Revelation would close one of Square Enix’s biggest modern projects. Kingdom Hearts 4 would begin a new chapter for another major franchise. Other large RPG projects from Atlus, Monolith Soft, and other studios could also add to the year.

That kind of lineup would give the genre a level of mainstream attention it has not always enjoyed outside a few major releases. It would also create heavy competition. Square Enix would need to be careful not to crowd its own games, especially if both Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts need long marketing campaigns.

For now, Kingdom Hearts 4 remains without an official date. But the retailer listings have given fans a new reason to watch 2027 closely. If the window is accurate, Square Enix may be preparing to make the year a milestone for both Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.
