GTA 6 PC Version Reportedly Planned for Q1 2027, Just Months After Console Launch

Grand Theft Auto 6 could arrive on PC much sooner than previous Rockstar games, with a new report claiming that the PC version is currently planned for the first quarter of 2027.

If accurate, that would place the PC release sometime between January and March 2027, only a few months after GTA 6 launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.

Rockstar Games and Take Two have not announced a PC version yet, so the reported Q1 2027 window remains unconfirmed.

GTA 6 PC Port Could Arrive Before April 2027

The report cites multiple industry sources who claim GTA 6 will launch on PC during the first quarter of 2027.

Those sources are remaining anonymous to avoid affecting business relationships, which suggests the information may have come from companies working with Rockstar or Take Two rather than directly from the publisher or developer.

PlatformReported or confirmed release
PlayStation 5November 19, 2026
Xbox Series XSNovember 19, 2026
PCReportedly Q1 2027
PC statusNot officially announced

If the reported window proves accurate, PC players would be able to enter Leonida before April 2027.

That would represent a major change from Rockstar's usual release strategy.

Rockstar Usually Makes PC Players Wait Much Longer

Rockstar has historically released its major games on consoles first before bringing them to PC later.

Grand Theft Auto 5 took almost two years to reach PC after its original console launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also arrived on PC more than a year after launching on PlayStation and Xbox.

A GTA 6 PC release within only a few months would therefore be one of Rockstar's fastest platform expansions.

It would also significantly reduce the waiting period for PC players compared with previous generations.

Take Two Has Said Consoles Remain the Priority

Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously described console players as the company's core audience when discussing the absence of an announced PC version.

His comments suggested that Rockstar and Take Two intended to prioritize the console launch first.

That remains consistent with the current official release plan, which only lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

However, prioritizing consoles does not necessarily mean the PC version needs to arrive years later.

A Q1 2027 release would still give the console versions an initial period of exclusivity while allowing Rockstar to bring the game to another large audience relatively quickly.

No Official PC Announcement Yet

Despite the new report, neither Rockstar nor Take Two has publicly confirmed a PC release date.

That distinction is important because plans can change during development, particularly for a game as large as GTA 6.

The report may reflect the current internal target rather than a finalized launch date.

Rockstar could also require additional time for optimization, testing or platform specific features before releasing the PC version.

For now, the only confirmed versions remain PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

A Faster PC Release Would Be a Major Shift

A Q1 2027 PC launch would be significant for several reasons.

PC has become an increasingly important platform for major publishers, while the gap between console and PC versions of multiplatform games has generally narrowed.

It would also allow Rockstar to capitalize on GTA 6's launch momentum rather than waiting more than a year before reaching PC players.

At the same time, the company would still preserve its console first approach.

Until Rockstar makes an official announcement, the reported Q1 2027 window should be treated as an industry report rather than a confirmed date.

For now, GTA 6 is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
