Granblue Fantasy Relink Endless Ragnarok review: A strong expansion that makes the whole game better

Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Endless Ragnarok is a major expansion that does more than add new endgame content. It also improves the wider structure of the base game by making character progression smoother, reducing some of the original grind, and giving players more reasons to experiment with the roster. The expansion scored 8.7 in the review and was tested on PC.

The base game already had a strong foundation. It combined fast action combat, a large cast of distinct characters, and a story mode that helped bring the Granblue Fantasy universe to a wider global audience. Its early success was clear, as the game sold more than 1 million copies in roughly 10 days. Endless Ragnarok builds on that success by adding new characters, tougher quests, new enemies, and a single player roguelite mode called the Conflux.

The story begins after the crew defeats the Astral Lilith and saves the Zegagrande Skydom. Soon after, chaotic gateways begin opening across the skies, bringing powerful Ragnalia creatures linked to Ragnarok. Seofon and Tweyen, two members of the Eternals, seek out the Captain and test the crew before sending them deeper into the Conflux to face a new threat.

The Conflux is the expansion’s smartest addition because it fixes more than one problem

The expansion’s story is not its strongest part. It is smaller than the base campaign and does not leave the same impact, but it is better paced because progression is built around quests and Conflux exploration instead of long stretches of setup. That structure works because the Conflux is where Endless Ragnarok becomes most valuable.

The Conflux is a single player roguelite mode where the Captain and crew clear stages before facing altered versions of main game bosses. It gives large reward bundles for weapon forging, Sigil upgrades, weapon cap removal, and Awakening mechanics. More importantly, its first cycles unlock during the base game, which helps newer players reach the power level needed for harder content with less frustration.

FeatureWhat it addsWhy it matters
Conflux modeSingle player roguelite cycles with rewardsReduces the base game’s heavy grind
Chaos difficultyVery hard new questsGives endgame players a real challenge
New charactersBeatrix, Eustace, Fraux, Fediel, Gallanza, and MaglielleExpands an already strong roster
Master TraitsNew character progression stylesChanges how characters can be built
SummonsLyria can summon enemies and Primal BeastsAdds new combat and build options
Primal BurstsStronger Chain Burst interactionsMakes Link attacks more important
Ragnalia enemiesPowerful new monsters and variantsAdds tougher and more varied fights

The Conflux also breaks up the rhythm of repeating quests. Later cycles introduce Auras, temporary bonuses that add light buildcrafting outside the normal system, along with special scenarios such as catching a slime, spotting differences, or identifying the right NPC. These moments help the mode avoid becoming only another combat grind.

Endless Ragnarok still has grind, especially if you play solo with AI partners. Ragnalia enemies hit hard, have large health pools, and demand strong Sigil setups. The expansion makes the grind more manageable, but it does not remove the need for careful optimization.

The new characters are one of the expansion’s clear strengths. Beatrix, Eustace, Fraux, Fediel, Gallanza, and Maglielle add more variety to a roster that was already impressive. Beatrix stands out with her Delta Clock, Devour Causality power up, and flexible skill set, but the review notes that the broader lineup remains well designed and distinct.

Master Traits also give existing characters a meaningful upgrade. These traits unlock after the Endless Ragnarok experience begins and are split into three styles, with major bonuses activating after enough related passives are equipped. Examples include stronger healing based attack options for the Captain and new ways for Narmaya and Zeta to change their combat flow.

Lyria finally gets a more active role through Summons and Primal Bursts. Summons use a dedicated gauge and let players call in many enemies, including Primal Beasts, for damage and party wide passive effects. Primal Bursts strengthen Chain Bursts and make Link attacks more central to surviving Chaos difficulty.

The new Ragnalia enemies give those systems a reason to exist. Chaos quests are designed to punish weak builds and poor execution, with aggressive monsters, high damage, and special encounters such as Sumo Pincer, where the goal is to push the enemy out of a ring rather than simply drain its health.

Endless Ragnarok is not perfect. Its story is underwhelming, Chaos difficulty can limit build experimentation, and grinding remains part of the experience. Still, the expansion improves Granblue Fantasy: Relink in ways that matter. It gives veterans harder content, gives newcomers a better route through progression, and adds systems that make the entire game feel more complete. For players already invested in Relink, this is a strong and worthwhile expansion.
