GE-Proton 11-10 is now available for Steam Deck and Linux gaming systems, bringing several compatibility improvements, performance fixes, and updated software components. Released on October 18, 2026, the update addresses problems affecting Arknights: Endfield, Star Citizen, Path of Exile, and several other PC games.
The latest release also improves PlayStation controller support, fixes HDR detection in KDE Plasma, and updates important compatibility components, including Wine, DXVK, D7VK, VKD3D-Proton, and FEX.
One of the most notable changes involves a controller detection problem introduced in GE-Proton 11-8 that caused significant performance reductions in certain games, even when no controller was connected.
GE-Proton 11-10 Fixes Major Controller Performance Problems
The update addresses an issue involving the automatic XInput fallback system for PlayStation controllers.
Previously, the compatibility layer could repeatedly scan connected HID devices whenever a game checked an empty controller slot. This unnecessary scanning caused substantial performance problems in some titles.
Path of Exile was particularly affected, with reported performance falling from more than 200 FPS to approximately 50 FPS.
Other affected games included Le Mans Ultimate and Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.
The developers have now changed how the fallback system handles controller detection to prevent repeated device scans.
Here are some of the most important game specific improvements.
| Game | Fix or improvement |
|---|---|
| Arknights: Endfield | Additional ACE anti cheat driver compatibility fixes |
| Path of Exile | Fix for severe controller related FPS reductions |
| Le Mans Ultimate | Addresses slow motion physics associated with controller detection |
| Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town | Fixes controller related performance problems |
| Sackboy: A Big Adventure | Corrects DualSense player assignment |
| Rune Factory 4 Special | Fixes incorrect DualShock 4 inputs |
| Star Citizen | Restores bundled AMD AGS library loading |
| Call of Duty: Ghosts | Shader memory initialization improvements |
| The Witcher 3 | Controller rescan fix |
| Picross for a Cause | Fixes music playback related stalls and crashes |
Although the underlying controller scanning issue has been addressed, some reported game specific performance improvements still require confirmation through further testing.
Arknights: Endfield Gets Additional Anti Cheat Compatibility Fixes
GE-Proton 11-10 introduces several changes intended to improve compatibility with Arknights: Endfield's ACE anti cheat system.
These improvements have been incorporated from the dwproton project and focus on reproducing Windows kernel behavior expected by the game's protection software.
The update changes how DriverEntry receives its return address and adds fixes involving several Windows kernel functions.
These include MmCopyMemory, ServiceKeyName, memory descriptor list section views, and PsGetContextThread.
A basic implementation of the Windows Local Security Authority service is also included to satisfy additional system requirements.
However, the work remains incomplete.
A known ACE bugcheck identified as 0x65636154 is still unresolved, including in the compatibility project from which these changes originated.
Consequently, the update should not be interpreted as confirmation that Arknights: Endfield now works without problems on Steam Deck or Linux.
PlayStation Controllers Receive Rumble and Input Improvements
The latest release also addresses several problems affecting Sony's DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers.
Bluetooth rumble now works through the XInput fallback system, while an issue that caused controller input to stop after the first vibration event has been fixed.
Games using native hidraw input can continue accessing extended controller features, including motion sensors and touchpad functionality.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Rune Factory 4 Special now use adjusted default settings to avoid incorrect controller behavior.
In Sackboy, the change prevents a DualSense controller from being incorrectly assigned to the second player.
Rune Factory 4 Special also benefits from a correction that addresses scrambled DualShock 4 inputs.
Several controller related environment variables are now correctly passed to the HID bus driver, improving how configuration options are applied.
GE-Proton 11-10 Updates Wine, DXVK, and Other Components
The release includes newer versions of several technologies responsible for running Windows games on Linux.
Wine has been updated to Valve's development version dated October 16, 2026.
The update introduces improved system call handling, including changes intended to support Easy Anti Cheat launchers.
DXVK has also been updated to version 3.1.1-134, bringing improvements to Direct3D compatibility, shader caching, and device reset behavior.
Additional component changes include:
| Component | Update details |
|---|---|
| Wine | Valve development build from October 16, 2026 |
| DXVK | Version 3.1.1-134 |
| D7VK | Updated using the newer DXVK codebase |
| VKD3D-Proton | Improved synchronization for queued transfer operations |
| FEX | Updated to FEX-2610-30 |
| Xalia | Improved shutdown behavior |
These updates should improve compatibility across a range of Windows games, although the results will depend on the individual title and system configuration.
KDE Plasma HDR Detection and GNOME Windowing Get Fixes
GE-Proton 11-10 also changes how HDR displays are detected when running KDE Plasma.
The compatibility layer now uses KWin's HDR status for individual monitors.
Previously, certain HDR displays could be detected incorrectly when SDR brightness was configured to match the HDR reference level.
The new detection method addresses that problem while leaving the existing behavior unchanged for other desktop compositors.
GNOME users also receive a window management fix targeting crashes that could occur when an application destroyed a window associated with a popup.
The problem affected applications such as AION 2 and the Battle.net launcher when native Wayland support was enabled.
However, the developers have not yet confirmed the fix through testing on GNOME.
Star Citizen and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Receive Improvements
Star Citizen now loads its bundled AMD AGS library again, restoring behavior previously available in GE-Proton 11-6.
This change is intended to prevent an Easy Anti Cheat violation involving an untrusted system file, along with error 30033.
The fix has not yet been confirmed through testing within the game.
Meanwhile, GE-Proton 11-10 introduces faster shared SRW lock release operations.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, testing showed that the proportion of sampled execution time spent in ntdll decreased from 24.5% to 19.1%.
This indicates reduced overhead in the affected code, although it does not directly establish an equivalent increase in overall frame rates.
Other improvements address repeated music playback in MonoGame titles, including Picross for a Cause, where playing a song again could previously cause stalls or crashes.
The release also includes build fixes involving Clang, libc++, and LLVM.
GE-Proton 11-10 is available as an optional compatibility tool for Linux gaming systems, including Steam Deck. You can install it alongside Valve's official Proton versions and select it for individual games through Steam's compatibility settings.
With fixes covering controller performance, graphics translation, HDR detection, and anti cheat compatibility, the release addresses several reported problems. Some changes still require testing in affected games, particularly those involving anti cheat systems and experimental compatibility work.
