Microsoft and Discord are expanding their partnership with a new perk for Discord Nitro members: Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition is now included at no extra cost.
The new benefit is part of Discord’s Nitro Rewards program, which is being introduced for Discord’s 10th anniversary. Nitro still costs $10 per month, but subscribers now get access to a smaller Game Pass tier with more than 50 games across PC and Xbox consoles.
The included library features games such as Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded. Nitro members also get 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming each month, so they can try supported games without installing them on dedicated hardware.
Discord says this is one of its biggest Nitro changes since the service launched in 2016. The update is rolling out now and should reach eligible regions over the coming weeks.
The partnership also adds discounts for gaming accessories. Nitro members can get offers from Logitech, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreek as part of the new rewards program.

Microsoft is also giving extra Discord perks to people who subscribe to both Discord Nitro and Xbox Game Pass. These include 250 Discord Orbs each month, bonus Orbs from completing Discord Quests, and automatic discounts in the Discord Shop. Those perks are expected to roll out later this month.
This is a smart move for both companies. Discord gets a stronger reason for people to subscribe to Nitro, while Microsoft gets Game Pass in front of a large gaming audience that already uses Discord every day.
It also gives players a lower friction way to sample Game Pass. Instead of buying a game outright or signing up for a full Xbox subscription, Nitro members can try a small catalog through Starter Edition and cloud play.
The bigger question is whether this makes Nitro feel meaningfully more valuable long term. For now, adding Game Pass Starter is a strong perk, especially for people who already use Discord as their main gaming chat app.
For Xbox, the goal is clear. Microsoft wants Game Pass to reach players wherever they already are, and Discord is one of the most obvious places to do that.
