Dell's refreshed XPS 13 laptop is available for $799.99 at Best Buy, following a $200 discount from its regular price of $999.99. The offer arrives ahead of Black Friday 2026 and makes the premium compact laptop more accessible to students, office professionals, and customers looking for an everyday Windows PC.
The discounted configuration features an Intel Core 5 Series 3 320 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It also includes a 13.4 inch touchscreen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a lightweight chassis designed for portability.
The XPS 13 has received positive reviews for its build quality, battery performance, and overall usability. Its combination of specifications and price also makes it a potential competitor to Apple's MacBook Neo.
However, the laptop has some limitations, including soldered memory that cannot be upgraded after purchase.
Dell XPS 13 Offers a 3K Touchscreen and Nearly 15 Hours of Battery Life
The 2026 Dell XPS 13 focuses on providing a portable computing experience without requiring customers to purchase a more expensive workstation or gaming laptop.
One of its main attractions is the 13.4 inch touchscreen, which supports a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels.
The display also features a 120Hz refresh rate, allowing smoother scrolling, animations, and interface navigation than a standard 60Hz screen.
For everyday tasks such as reading documents, browsing websites, and watching videos, the higher resolution provides additional image clarity.
Battery performance is another important feature.
The laptop reportedly delivers nearly 15 hours of battery life during testing, although actual endurance will depend on the applications being used and the selected power settings.
This makes it suitable for students attending classes or professionals who frequently work away from charging points.
Dell has also kept the chassis compact, with a thickness of approximately 0.5 inches and a weight of around 2.2 pounds.
The lightweight design makes it easier to carry in a backpack or laptop bag.

Intel Core 5 Series 3 Provides Performance for Everyday Tasks
The Dell XPS 13 uses Intel's Core 5 Series 3 320 processor, paired with 16GB of system memory.
This configuration is intended for common computing activities, including document editing, video conferencing, web browsing, and multitasking.
The 16GB memory capacity should provide sufficient room for many everyday workflows, including running several browser tabs and office applications simultaneously.
The included 512GB SSD provides storage for Windows, applications, documents, and personal files.
For people who primarily use cloud services and productivity software, this capacity may be adequate.
However, customers who regularly store large video files, extensive media libraries, or demanding software projects may require more storage.
The laptop also includes a responsive keyboard and speakers that received favorable comments during testing.
While the hardware should comfortably handle typical productivity tasks, it is not intended to compete with laptops featuring dedicated high performance graphics processors.
Dell XPS 13 Includes Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7
Despite its compact dimensions, the XPS 13 includes several modern connectivity features.
The laptop provides two Thunderbolt 4 ports, allowing compatible accessories, external displays, and storage devices to be connected.
Thunderbolt support can also simplify desktop setups when used with an appropriate docking station.
However, customers who frequently connect several accessories may need a hub or dock because of the limited number of physical ports.
Wireless connectivity is handled through Wi-Fi 7, which supports newer networking capabilities when paired with compatible routers.
For security, Dell includes an infrared sensor that allows facial recognition through Windows Hello.
This provides a convenient alternative to entering a password every time the laptop is unlocked.
The combination of modern connectivity and biometric authentication makes the XPS 13 suitable for students and professionals who move between different working environments.
Dell XPS 13 RAM Cannot Be Upgraded, but SSD Can Be Replaced
One important purchasing consideration is the laptop's memory configuration.
The XPS 13 uses soldered RAM, meaning its 16GB of memory cannot be removed and replaced with larger modules.
Customers therefore need to select a suitable memory capacity when purchasing the laptop.
For general productivity, 16GB should be sufficient for many applications.
However, people planning to use demanding creative software, large datasets, or multiple virtual machines may benefit from a configuration with more memory.
Storage is more flexible.
Unlike the RAM, the laptop's SSD can be replaced, and Dell supports configurations with up to 4TB of storage.
This gives owners a potential upgrade path if the original 512GB capacity becomes insufficient.
However, upgrading storage requires compatible hardware and appropriate installation procedures.
Dell XPS 13 Competes With Apple's MacBook Neo
The refreshed XPS 13 has attracted attention as a Windows alternative to Apple's MacBook Neo.
Both products target customers looking for reliable everyday computing without paying for the highest performance laptop configurations.
The Dell model distinguishes itself through its touchscreen, 120Hz display, modern connectivity, and Windows software compatibility.
Its compact design and long battery endurance are also important considerations for customers who frequently travel or work remotely.
Reviews have praised the XPS 13 for delivering a premium experience while remaining relatively affordable.
However, the best option will depend on the applications, operating system, and features each customer prefers.
Someone who relies on Windows specific programs may find the Dell laptop more suitable, while customers already using Apple's ecosystem may prefer a MacBook.
The discounted $799.99 price strengthens the XPS 13's position among compact productivity laptops.
Is the Dell XPS 13 Worth Buying Before Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026, and additional laptop promotions are likely to appear as the event approaches.
However, Dell's current $200 discount provides an opportunity to purchase the XPS 13 ahead of the main holiday shopping period.
The ongoing increase in memory prices has created uncertainty around future computer pricing, although there is no confirmation that this particular model will become more expensive.
It is also possible that Black Friday promotions could offer a larger discount.
For customers who need a laptop immediately, the current $799.99 price may be worth considering.
The combination of a high resolution touchscreen, lightweight construction, modern Intel processor, and nearly 15 hours of reported battery life makes the XPS 13 a practical choice for everyday work and study.
Its soldered RAM and limited port selection remain the main compromises.
At its discounted price, the Dell XPS 13 offers a compact Windows laptop with several premium features that are useful for students, professionals, and customers who prioritize portability over demanding gaming performance.
