Crimson Desert has received another major update, and Pearl Abyss is once again adding features that players have been asking for.
Patch 1.06 is now live on PC and consoles. The update adds new Special Mounts, an equipment Extraction system, new combat options, sword sheaths, dog attack support, and even a claw machine style vending feature.
The biggest visual change is the expanded Special Mount system. Players can now register several wild creatures as mounts after subduing and feeding them. The list includes bears, boars, wolves, deer, mountain goats, Kuku birds, raptors, camels, lions, and tigers.
Pearl Abyss also improved the mount system itself. Special Mounts now have their own tab in the Inventory Menu, and saddles are no longer shown by default. Players can equip saddles separately and buy them from select shops.

The more practical addition is the new Extraction feature. This lets players recover some materials used to refine equipment. It works through smithies in different regions and can roll back a weapon or gear piece by one refinement level or all the way back to its original base refinement level.
Extraction does not destroy the item. It only lowers the refinement level and gives back part of the materials used.
| Material type | Recovery rate |
|---|---|
| Special materials, including Artifacts and Aeserion’s scale | 100 percent |
| Common materials, including iron ore, copper ore, and bloodstones | Around 70 percent |
This should make experimentation much easier. Crimson Desert has a lot of gear, and many players care about equipment appearance as much as stats. Before this update, upgrading multiple pieces could be time consuming because materials were harder to recover. Extraction gives players more freedom to switch gear without feeling like every upgrade choice is permanent.
Patch 1.06 also adds new unarmed combat skills for Oongka and sword sheaths. A new Sigil of Valor item can make pet dogs attack enemies when equipped, giving companions a more active role in combat.
The strangest addition is a claw machine at the Laughing Marionette. Players can spend one silver for a chance to receive rewards, including lighting items, a chair, special headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gears.
Here is what the update adds:
| Feature | What changed |
|---|---|
| Special Mounts | Bears, raptors, tigers, lions, camels, wolves, and more can become mounts |
| Mount UI | Special Mounts now have their own Inventory tab |
| Saddles | No longer default, can be equipped or purchased separately |
| Extraction | Recover upgrade materials by rolling back refinements |
| Oongka | New unarmed combat skills |
| Pets | Dogs can attack enemies with Sigil of Valor |
| Claw machine | New reward machine at the Laughing Marionette |
Pearl Abyss has been updating Crimson Desert quickly, and patch 1.06 continues that pattern. The studio is not only fixing and balancing the game, but also adding community requested features that change how players explore, upgrade gear, and customize their experience.
The new mounts are the flashy part, but Extraction may be the most important change. It makes gear progression less punishing and gives players more room to experiment. For a large open world game built around exploration, combat, and collection, that is exactly the kind of quality of life update that can keep players engaged.
