Corsair has launched the TC80 gaming chair for $199.99, positioning it as a more affordable option in its gaming furniture range while emphasizing durability, a wider seat design, and adjustable ergonomics.
The TC80 moves away from the traditional racing seat shape used by many gaming chairs. Instead, it uses a flatter and broader cushion intended to make it easier to change sitting positions during long sessions.
Corsair says the chair has also been tested against BIFMA X5.1 and EN 1335 standards, with more than 30 durability and safety tests completed.

Corsair Focuses Heavily on Durability
Corsair is making durability one of the main selling points of the TC80.
The company says the chair completed a wide range of mechanical tests covering the seat, backrest, armrests, swivel system, tilt mechanism, and overall stability.
One test involved dropping a 136kg load onto the center of the seat.
The backrest was also tested with 1,001N of force applied for one minute.
For seat durability, Corsair says a 57kg load was dropped onto the seat for 100,000 cycles.
The tilt mechanism went through 300,000 cycles while supporting a 109kg load.
Armrests were tested for 60,000 cycles using 400N of force on each side.
The swivel mechanism was tested for 120,000 cycles with a 122kg load while the chair was positioned at both its highest and lowest settings.
These figures come from Corsair's own testing and should be treated as manufacturer claims rather than independent long term durability results.
Flatter Seat Replaces Racing Style Side Bolsters
The TC80 abandons the raised side bolsters commonly found on racing inspired gaming chairs.
Its flatter cushion gives the user more room to move their legs and shift posture.
Corsair has already used a similar design approach on more expensive chairs in its range.
The company says the main contact areas use breathable fabric, which may help reduce heat buildup compared with less breathable upholstery.
Padded linkage armrests are also included.
This is a practical addition for anyone who dislikes the harder plastic armrests found on many entry level gaming and office chairs.
Steel Base and Class 4 Gas Lift Handle Adjustments
The chair uses a five star steel base fitted with 50mm casters.
Height adjustment is handled by a Class 4 gas lift with 100mm of adjustment range.
Corsair rates the TC80 for people weighing up to 120kg, or 264 pounds, and up to 188cm, or roughly 6 feet 2 inches, in height.
The maximum supported user weight is lower than some of the loads used during the chair's durability tests because those tests are designed to evaluate structural safety under controlled conditions rather than normal daily use.
Stability Testing Covers Multiple Failure Points
Corsair also tested how easily the chair could tip.
The forward overturning test applied 600N of force at points considered most likely to cause instability.
For rearward stability, 13 heavy discs were placed against the backrest.
These tests are intended to evaluate whether the chair remains stable under forces beyond normal sitting conditions.
The company also subjected the backrest, tilt mechanism, swivel assembly, and armrests to repeated loads designed to simulate extended use.
TC80 Ships With a Two Year Warranty
Corsair is backing the TC80 with a two year warranty.
The chair is being offered in both dark and light color options and is expected to be sold through Corsair as well as major retailers.
Availability may vary by retailer during the initial rollout.
At $199.99, the TC80 sits below some of Corsair's more premium gaming chairs while retaining features such as a steel base, padded armrests, breathable fabric, and extensive manufacturer durability testing.
Its broader seat and reduced racing inspired styling also make it closer in design to a conventional ergonomic office chair than many traditional gaming models.
