Control Resonant Team Is Comfortable Launching Eight Weeks Before GTA 6

Remedy Entertainment does not expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to disrupt the launch of Control Resonant, even though both games are scheduled for the same busy period of 2026.

Control Resonant is set to release on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. GTA 6 is currently scheduled for November 19, leaving around eight weeks between the two launches.

Lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov said the timing of Rockstar Games’ next major release has not played a significant role in Remedy’s planning. According to Mohov, the September date for Control Resonant has been fixed for a long time, and the studio remains focused on delivering a complete game at launch.

Mohov also said he is personally looking forward to GTA 6 and has been a fan of the series since Vice City. However, he does not believe its release has affected Remedy’s development schedule or launch strategy.

Remedy Has Kept Its Original September Plan

Several publishers are carefully considering how close their games should launch to GTA 6. The scale of interest around Rockstar’s title means nearby releases could face tougher competition for attention, player time, and spending.

Some companies have already adjusted their schedules. Fable, for example, was moved to February 2027, with its developer saying the delay would give the game a more dedicated launch window.

Remedy is taking a different approach. The studio believes the gap between Control Resonant and GTA 6 provides enough space for both games. Mohov said September has been the planned release period for as long as he can remember, suggesting the studio had no reason to make a late change.

Control Resonant is also aimed at a different type of player. While GTA 6 is expected to offer a large open world focused on crime, driving, and exploration, Remedy’s game is built around supernatural action, unusual environments, and a more directed narrative experience.

That difference may help Control Resonant maintain its own audience, even during a crowded release season.

The Team Expects a Complete Day One Release

Mohov said Remedy expects Control Resonant to offer a complete experience from its first day. That point is important because major game releases increasingly compete not only on marketing but also on technical quality, content, and player confidence at launch.

The studio has previously described Control Resonant as its longest game so far. The main experience is expected to take around 30 hours, while players who pursue most optional content may spend approximately 50 hours with it.

Launching in September should give players enough time to finish or make substantial progress before GTA 6 arrives in November. The eight week gap also reduces the chance that both games will be competing for attention during the same few days.

Other major releases are still planned for the same general period, including Marvel’s Wolverine and Phantom Blade Zero. This suggests that several publishers believe strong games can still find an audience near GTA 6, provided their launch dates are separated and their identities are clear.

Mohov described 2026 as an exciting year for gaming and said the Remedy team plans to play many of the same releases as everyone else. For now, the studio remains confident in its September date and hopes players will make room for Control Resonant before Rockstar’s next game arrives.
