AMD has quietly expanded two of its older desktop processor families with the Ryzen 5 7500 and Ryzen 5 5500F. One joins the Zen 4 based Ryzen 7000 lineup with integrated graphics, while the other brings a new Zen 3 option to the long running Ryzen 5000 family.
Both processors use six CPU cores and 12 threads, but they target different platforms and price segments. AMD has confirmed global availability, although pricing has not yet been announced.
The Ryzen 5 7500 is the more capable of the two. It is closely related to the existing Ryzen 5 7500F, but it includes integrated RDNA 2 graphics.

Ryzen 5 7500 adds integrated graphics to a familiar Zen 4 design
The Ryzen 5 7500 uses the same six core, 12 thread configuration as the Ryzen 5 7500F.
Its base frequency is 3.7 GHz, while the maximum boost clock reaches 5.0 GHz. AMD also gives the processor 6 MB of L2 cache and 32 MB of L3 cache, producing 38 MB of total cache.
Power consumption is rated at 65W by default.
The main difference compared with the 7500F is integrated graphics. The Ryzen 5 7500 includes a small RDNA 2 based GPU with two graphics cores and a frequency of up to 2200 MHz.
This integrated GPU is similar to the basic graphics hardware included with many other Ryzen 7000 desktop processors. It is mainly useful for display output, troubleshooting and light workloads rather than demanding gaming.
The processor is also unlocked for overclocking.
Ryzen 5 5500F extends the AM4 platform again
AMD is also adding the Ryzen 5 5500F to the older Ryzen 5000 desktop family.
The new chip is based on Zen 3 and uses six cores with 12 threads. It operates between 3.0 GHz and 4.4 GHz and carries the same 65W default TDP as the Ryzen 5 7500.

The important detail is that the Ryzen 5 5500F belongs to the Vermeer family, rather than the Cezanne design used by the existing Ryzen 5 5500.
AMD has also reduced the L3 cache to 16 MB. That is half the 32 MB available on six core Vermeer processors such as the Ryzen 5 5600.
The smaller cache and lack of integrated graphics suggest that the 5500F is intended as a lower cost option for people building or upgrading an AM4 system.
AMD has continued to release new Ryzen 5000 processors long after the arrival of newer platforms. That approach gives existing AM4 owners more choices without requiring a new motherboard and DDR5 memory.
Pricing will determine how useful both processors are in practice. The Ryzen 5 7500 could appeal to buyers who want an affordable AM5 CPU with basic integrated graphics, while the Ryzen 5 5500F gives the older AM4 platform another entry level Zen 3 option.
