The Xbox Summer Sale 2026 is now live, bringing discounts to more than 2,000 games across Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store.
This year’s promotion is being presented as the Ultimate Game Sale and includes a wide mix of major releases, older favourites, backward compatible titles and recent games. Discounts vary by region, edition and platform, but several titles have received reductions of 50 percent or more.
The sale is expected to remain available until late on Wednesday, July 29, giving players almost two weeks to review the offers before making a purchase.
Some of the strongest deals include The Quarry for £6.49, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for £5.99 and Watch Dogs: Legion for £8.99. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has also received a large reduction, while newer releases such as WWE 2K26 and Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Deluxe Edition are available at lower prices.

Recent releases are included alongside older games
The size of the sale gives players a broad selection rather than focusing only on older catalogue titles.
Several recent games are included, which may appeal to anyone who avoided buying them at launch price. WWE 2K26 is available at half price, while Space Marine 2 has received a 70 percent reduction through its first anniversary edition.
Triangle Strategy is another notable inclusion, particularly for players interested in tactical role playing games. Its 60 percent discount brings the price down to £19.99 in the UK and $23.99 in the United States.

Older releases have received some of the deepest reductions. The Quarry and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are both discounted by 90 percent, making them inexpensive options for players who missed them previously.
Watch Dogs: Legion is available at an 85 percent reduction. Although it is no longer a new release, its open world London setting and flexible character system may still make it appealing at the lower price.
Backward compatible games form a large part of the promotion
The sale also includes more than 150 backward compatible games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 generations.
These titles can be valuable for players building a digital library across several generations. Many remain playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S through Microsoft’s backward compatibility programme.
Older games often receive substantial discounts during large seasonal promotions, making the sale a practical time to purchase titles that are difficult to find physically or have become expensive through the second hand market.
Compatibility still varies by title, so buyers should check the store page before purchasing. Some games may only work on specific consoles, while others may include enhancements such as higher resolution, improved frame rates or faster loading.
Xbox Play Anywhere can add value to selected purchases
Some discounted games support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing one digital purchase to work across Xbox consoles and Windows PC.
This can make a sale price more valuable for players who use both platforms. Progress, achievements and cloud saves may also carry between supported versions.
Not every game in the promotion includes Play Anywhere support, so the feature should be checked individually. A discounted title may have separate console and PC versions even when both are sold through Microsoft’s stores.
The feature is particularly useful for players considering future Xbox hardware that may combine console and PC characteristics. Buying supported games now could provide greater flexibility later.
Buyers should compare editions before purchasing
Large sales often include several versions of the same game.
A standard edition may be cheaper, while a deluxe or ultimate package could include expansions, character packs or other downloadable content. The larger discount does not always make the more expensive edition the better choice.
Players should check what is actually included and whether the additional content is useful. Some older games also have season passes that receive separate discounts.
Game Pass availability is another consideration. A title already included in your subscription may not need to be purchased unless you want permanent access after it leaves the service.
The Xbox Summer Sale 2026 offers one of the largest groups of discounts currently available on the platform. With more than 2,000 games included and the promotion expected to run until July 29, there is enough time to compare prices, check compatibility and avoid adding games to your backlog simply because the discount looks large.
