Xbox and Discord are expanding their partnership, and the biggest change is that Discord Nitro subscribers now get access to Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition.
The new Starter Edition tier includes more than 50 PC and console games. The library includes titles such as DayZ, Fallout 4, Grounded, Stardew Valley, and others. Nitro members also get 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming each month.
That makes Discord Nitro more useful for people who want a small taste of Game Pass without paying for a full Xbox subscription. It also gives Xbox another way to reach players outside its own app and console ecosystem.

Discord is adding a few hardware perks too. Nitro members can get up to 30 percent off Logitech G products and 15 percent off SteelSeries products.
For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, Discord perks are also coming soon. Microsoft says Game Pass members will receive Discord benefits later this month, though there is no exact date yet.
Here is what Game Pass subscribers are expected to get:
| Discord perk for Game Pass members | Details |
|---|---|
| Monthly Discord Orbs | 250 Orbs each month |
| Discord Quest bonus | 1.2x extra Orbs from completed Quests |
| Discord Shop discounts | Automatically applied discounts |
The partnership makes sense. Xbox wants Game Pass to be visible wherever players already spend time, and Discord is one of the biggest gaming communities on the internet. If people can discover Game Pass games inside Discord and then jump into them more easily, that could help Microsoft keep the service in front of more players.
Still, the Game Pass side of the deal feels modest. Discord Nitro subscribers get an actual Game Pass tier with games and cloud gaming hours. Game Pass subscribers, meanwhile, are getting Orbs, Quest bonuses, and shop discounts.
That is not nothing, but many Xbox users may have hoped for full Discord Nitro access or at least server boosts. Those would have felt like stronger benefits for people already paying for Game Pass.
The larger idea is still interesting. Discord can act as a discovery layer for Game Pass, especially if the app makes it easier to see what friends are playing, join sessions, or find supported games. It also shows how Xbox is trying to build partnerships beyond the console itself.
But right now, the value feels uneven. Discord Nitro subscribers get a clear gaming benefit. Xbox Game Pass subscribers get lighter Discord rewards that may not matter to everyone.
This is a good first step for the Xbox and Discord partnership, but it does not yet feel like the full version of what the two services could offer together. If Microsoft wants Game Pass subscribers to feel excited about Discord benefits, full Nitro access or stronger community perks would make a much bigger impression.
